I agree with that - progress comes in fits and starts - but Man has not stepped on a non-earth body for 40 years, we have no idea how much knowledge we have missed by not traveling to the Moon annually. The trip costs about $5B, the USA 'salary' is over $1B per hour, ie 5 hours of USA salary per year to study/gain extra-terrestrial knowledge from the only place that we know how to get to. It's time to turn up the volume on scientific study. Sadly, the colleges are studying everything BUT science - women's studies, interdisciplinary studies, poetry - the USA is falling behind other nations in Education.

Not quite, the piece of paper won't help, you need the EDUCATION. And, sadly, lots of young folks are going to the diploma mills and paying about $40,000 for the piece of paper. And then they can't get jobs (every HR Dept knows that the diploma is worthless) PLUS they have a $40,000 loan to repay.
And again, you do NOT need money, you need an education. Get educated, join a corporation, work in a scientific group on a Space Travel project. JPL, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Northrup Grumman, Hughes, General Dynamics, Boeing, HP. And a jillion sub-contractors that supply the Primes. No money is required, they pay YOU. Oldguy is right. There is precious little math, science, physics, chemistry in the schools.
I could also argue that there should be classes that actually TEACH personal finance, investment, compound interest, instead of throwing the young out of the door with hours and hors and hours of experience in sports and other useless clatrap.
People wind up financially crippled for life by their ignorance. The only people who learn how to use money correctly either came from money skiled family or have gone against the tude to self teach these critical skills.
