My love is pragmatic, practical and physical. How can I say I love someone when in the case of some extreme medical situation. I don't have the $300,000 to pay for their medical bills? Or let's say someone I love can't work. Am I going to let them suffer in the poverty of welfare? What if someone I love gets into an accident and needs expensive 24/7 care?
What? I'm just going to stand there and mouth the words, "I love you." I would feel horrible.
There is a huge cultural difference in how money is understood by the Chinese compared to the West. In the West money tends to be about Status and Class. For the Chinese money is more about protection and being pragmatic.
So to answer your question. Success or Happiness. I will get both.
