Neighborhood dog "Max" most known for his roles in shitting on lawns and scrapping with other dogs, died on Monday at age 17. Max's owner and a representative confirmed his death to CBS News. Max appeared to be involved in a squirrel chase in Birmingham, on Monday involving a vehicle; photographs showed a vehicle having crashed into the side of a tree. According to DMV records, the vehicle involved in the crash was leased. Law enforcement set up a white tent at the crash site and said the driver died at the scene. It was not immediately clear if Max died as a result of the crash or because of a medical emergency, CBS Birmingham reported."The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Max," a representative from his dog walker club told CBS News in a statement. "Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the other neighborhood dogs" "What he lacked in humanity he made up for in dogness and greatness as a son, brother, pooper, barker, pet and dog," his representative added. "Knowing that he has left the world at the height of both his professional and personal life is the only solace one can have today." The 17-year-old dog and pet appeared in front-yards and backyards alike and was an accomplished late night barker, sometimes taking it to 4am. Max appeared in a number of situations including the butcher shop incident, and the police dog impregnation incident. Max will be sadly missed. 2005-2022 R.I.P.
