View all 11 posts  E s s e n c e: This is quite an interesting topic about ethics, it demand a dissection of what is the meaning to stand against bigotry, what is bigotry and the intentions behind our actions to understand who and what we really are. Bigotry is the lack of intolerance as Dark pointed out. Intolerance, hate, love suffering are states of mind and emotions that when we embody them we become them. They are actions that represent us, that show what we are. An example to counteract hate one has to embody the opposite attribute which is love, for sadness happiness, for ignorance knowledge, for bigotry is tolerance. We definitely should be disgusted for the actions of a bigot; but becoming a bigot for the bigotry of others is just making an excuse to justify our hate and intolerance. I see a bigot that is against bigotry as a self serving public show; an egotistical justice by using humanism to elevate themselves above others. Using bigotry to portray themselves as good human beings, disguising their self serving angenda behind the veil of morality, this is the true intention behind it all. We become what we are condemning on others, and if that isn't the objective, it sure is ironic how easily we become trapped by our own delusions of self grandeur; which our centralized perception of the self offers us. In order to combat an state of disgust we must acquire and embody the opposite attributes to counteract it's force. Using disgust to counteract or fight disgust it doesn't create a better environment; but rather the continuation of the same disgust with different justifications for one another that prolongs hate, intolerance and polarization of views. E s s e n c e: I have the firm conviction that all ideas have the right to exist, even the most horrible ideas against our own humanity. Views must be battled in the market of ideas in order to understand them. The awareness of those ideas are an important tool for us to combat them with intelligence. If we suppress a view, the idea will materialize with violence in our social environment. Understanding isnt a synonymous of acceptance, but rather is a tool to create the space for others to exist in our human experience so we can see ourselves in the world of others. I am a Jew, I have come to the discovery of my human nature, and realized if I had the same intentions, desires, inclinations, opportunities, social network support and environment as all those people who participated in the Holocaust; I would have done the same thing as they have done it. I don't justify the Holocaust, but I understand their excuses and circumstances. This perspective has allowed me to live without hate and recentment for the injustices done; as well, it gives me the warning that seemingly good people like myself, are capable of doing the worst things possible to others if the internal and external environment can germinate ideas into actions. In my perspective, this is how one can battle a view in the market of ideas that are against humanism. With opposite attributes, with intelligence, firm knowledge on the self, and actively in balance to counteract a force of destruction that can destroy us within. I believe in free speech and expression for all. I believe in freedom of religious belief and gun rights for self-preservation. Even though I support free speech, just because you can say anything you want doesn't mean you should say anything you want. The support of free speech does not mean you should like every word every person uses in the dictionary. I do not like it when people try to insult me or the opposition. I strongly dislike terms like "Libtard" or "Libnuts" because insulting someone like that does NOT make them agree with you and it's not productive. It does not make you sound smart, instead, it makes you look & sound like an asshole. When people see this kind of behavior, they think all conservatives are assholes and it makes us all look bad. Acting childish, and insulting others and shouting "Free Speech" does NOT make a free speech society sound appealing. This is how Fascist win. They know we humans are emotional and fragile and they try to win us over by claiming to "protect us" through censorship. I am against censorship and we need to protect our rights. But first we need to learn how to speak properly to each other. We should try to understand each other...We should use our free speech to challenge bad ideas with good ones in a civil manner... Only then, can we win people over. You can't win people over if you insult them. You only push them further and further away. I used to be a Liberal, Left Winger. But I didn't change because some jerk put me down. I changed because the people I spoke to from the other side where kind, respectful and was able to convince me that my ideology was wrong through many examples. I didn't change over night. It took some time. Months! But the seeds where planted. I put a lot of thought into my own values and how it relates to my thoughts on politics. It was a gradual process. In conclusion, abusing your freedom is the key to losing your freedom and losing those who may have supported you otherwise. We will keep losing, until we learn this fact. Despite you challenging this narrative, you are way more tolerant and loving than most Christians I encounter. The Dark Flower: I support what Lishman does for the Christian community and how he is trying to bring non-christians and christians together. I also support Barnabas on the catholic side too! There are some wonderful people who are Christians but there are too many bad apples that need to be exposed. By fighting against these bad apples, you make your community more welcome and make non-believers care more about what you're saying. Even if non-believers don't convert, being on everyone's good side and showing tolerance and supporting everyone's rights to free speech and freedom of religious beliefs, will create a better society. We need to be able to coexisting together regardless of our differences. Learning to agree to disagree is healthy for our free society. So let's make it happen!

I generally don't like eating much and I certainly don't like sweets or soda. It's really a pain to eat more than I need but somehow I need to eat more or something. I just want an average body. I prefer fresh foods and vegetables in general as Malek suggested. Gaining weight is so hard. Should I increase the portion I eat maybe? I noticed I am losing too much weight. If you don't eat much, you can try some protein shakes that offer more of a healthy caloric intake, or even a weight gainer supplement that is high in calories, but also high in vitamins and nutrients. |
