And programming was a lot more complicated back then
Because languages do a lot more to help programmers now
It's still not "simple"
But you don't need to master it all to do cool things
It's like chess... You can play the first day
But you can spend a lifetime to master
The best advice is... Don't worry and just relax and enjoy it like a fun puzzle

It doesn't matter which language really, because as soon as you learn how to program in any language, then you know how programming works. After that, learning a new language is easier
Javascript is a pretty good choice... And it has a lot of grammar in common with others, such as C, C++, Java
So once you learn for instance, Javascript, you could learn C, C++, C#, Java, Objective C, or many others very quickly, because they are all related to each other
I personally prefer C++

But whichever one you choose, enjoy the experience of learning it and don't worry too much about how long it takes

Treat it like a hobby or a game and just take each step one at a time... There are so many tutorials on the internet, plus videos on youtube

It's not so much like math or other subjects, it's more relaxed and laid-back. Programming is almost like an art or writing... It has technical skills in it, but some of it is creativity and just being clever
If you learn 1/10th of javascript, but you are clever, you can still do things that someone who knows all of Javascript can't do
IT's cool like that
That's why you can take it slow and just enjoy what you can do as you go, and you can jump around after you learn the basics rather than do it all in a certain order

Yes, you can make anything that a computer can possibly do
javascript is a language that makes programs which must live within a browser
But languages such as C++ can make a browser itself
or even Windows itself
It depends on where you want to start
You can also even get someone else's program (perhaps a browser) and change it to be different than it was originally
So that it is a customized version of a browser that does things your way, if you wanted
that is great

Yes, I know I do, and I've been doing it for decades
Even without the internet, I could still spend all day with a computer and love every second of it lol

Though, often I would make my own games... And play them sometimes, but it was more fun to make them

Yea if you're not too busy with regular classes, even an hour or two at night could be enough to get a head start

I know it will be hard since schoolwork will use a lot of your time
in the morning
after that on or two lecutres
at university
after that i have english class
A few hours a day would probably be enough to learn a good amount of any language within a few months... And you ought to be able to write simple (but fully functional) programs within a few days
Even cheesy but working programs the first day
It will seem hard to understand at first, but that's OK
You don't really have to understand it all, just take it slow and bit by bit
If it takes a week to do "day 1" lesson that's fine too, because with a busy schedule you may be slower going at first than average
But it speeds up as you go

Also, once things start to click in your mind, you'll suddenly start to "see" it
And then it will take on a life of its own

Wonder how you'd do it if you could break down the steps in your mind
If you were the millions of invisible ants that put together the dots on the screen that create the display

Don't let the work part of it distract you... Let your imagination take you there
Then it comes easily and in a fun way
And you won't get tired you'll instead find yourself wondering where all the hours of fun went
I sometimes would stay up late and yawning thinking, "Oh no 3am already! I was just getting to the GOOD part!" lol
I'll try to help you get to that mindset, then the rest flows automatically

It's like a puzzle of the mind, but it's not really hard... It's just one that takes unraveling, almost all the answers are on google... It just takes your creative input to decide what order you want them, or what design you want your program, etc.
