In Texas, cities get most of their income from sales taxes and we are currently capped-out at 8.25%. I would go to Austin and fight any attempt to raise the sales tax. I would also put a cap on fees paid to the city because any money you pay the government is really a tax. You can't make a unicorn out of a pig by calling it a permit fee or something.
