Many more planets and many more earths

While humanity did so many advancements, and scientific marvels, until recent, we continue to know sun being the only star that has the planet. then it comes 1992 and we come to know for fact that there is at least one planet outside our solar system.

It was more like a flood gate open. And now we have long list of planets that we know exists with other stars.

Best part of it is that some of those fits to the profile to be just like earth. Now all if takes to keep digging more, out in the sky and find, for fact, a planet that does supports life. And this will open another flood gate and many more to follow.

Its just matter of time when we live with fact of many more planets and many more earths.

Nursery: one of its kind

Nursery is where younglings are nursed and groomed. And no other word fits the description better than space that nurses new stars and planets.

And one such place in our galaxy is Orion Nebula. Thanks to James Webb Telescope, we hav got a first time ever insight into star and planet formation of this stellar nursery.

Zoom it and see the minute details this new telescope have captured.

Mythology to Astronomy: How we got our milky way

Mythology gives an interesting story about the origin of Milky Way. The story starts with the Roman goddess 'Hera'

Hera is a complex woman. She is the wife and one of three sisters of Zeus. She was the goddess of women and marriage. She was also the emblem of fertility. Jealousy and vengeance were often mentioned in her mythology. Juno is her name in Roman mythology.

The Greek name for the Milky Way (galaxies) is derived from the word milk (gala). One legend explains that the Milky Way was created by Heracles when he was a baby. He was a son of Zeus with a mortal woman Alcmene. Zeus let the infant Hercules suckle on his wife Hera’s milk when she was asleep, an act that would give the baby with godlike qualities. When Hera woke up and realized, she pushed him away and the spurting milk became the Milky Way.

Star gazing one of the most ancient hobby

Over time, we have changed a lot. We have changed our address (from stone caves to apartments), started moving fast (from just learnt bipedal motion to space travel), found many toys to play with (we call those wonders of science).... and yes this is the journey from Prehistoric man to today.

During all this journey, there has been a constant desire and hobby of human kind: star gazing.. From the very onset of life, we have cultivated this hobby....

And I am proud to say that I love this oldest tradition of human kind.. star gazing.

Try it! you wouldn't regret it.

Do we have water outside earth?

If you are asked this question, the likely answer would be 'No'. And even if other planets have some water symptoms, which world/planet has water the most, the likely answer would again be 'Earth'. To the surprise for most, both are incorrect. Water is not as uncommon on other planets/places as we think. while earth being the primary source of water and 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by water, only 0.12% of Earth’s total volume is liquid water Now lets sneak peak quickly into other places with water.

In our own Solar System:

Two of Jupiter’s moon takes big lead of water content. Ganymede has 46%, and Europa has 16% liquid water by volume. You can even see the water fumes coming out of Europa in this video Outside our solar system, we have found so many planets with water being one of common ingredients, we have coined a term: 'Ocean Planets'. One such ocean planet is 'K2-18b'. It is 124 light years away and in constellation of Leo. This is one of the strong likely candidate for supporting life. Now you think of life with this data, how common the life elements are spread across the universe.

How big is big?

We often use the terms like big, large, small, enormous to define things around us. It intrigued me to understand the scale of things, and questions like: what is some thing really big?, what is even bigger than that really big things, and what can be even bigger and how big something can be. This attached video is one fun way to understand the scale of things around us, city, country, earth, moon, other planets, sun, other stars, galaxy and the universe. Enjoy the show:

Beast who eats one sun a day

Most of the human cultures have folklores that talk about beasts: beast who eats animal, people, drink whole ocean or eat the planet or eats the sun.

What if this is reality and there is a beast who eats one sun a day. Believe it or not, there is. The name is *J2157*. J2157 is the hungriest blackhole every known, a big beast of size equivalent to 34 billion times mss of our sun and it consumes over one sun everyday.

Battle of Galaxies

We often wonder if star collide or planet get meteorite and feel its major event.

Well, think what happens when two galaxies come at war. Here is the one: The upper galaxy is labelled UGC 1810 by itself, but together with its collisional partners is known as Arp 273. Although the smaller partner is getting eaten away, it doesn't mean big warrior is unharmed. The outer blue ring of UGC 1810 is getting torn apart, as if a lion is in battle with elephant and ripping it trunk apart.

Martian Blueberries

Do you know, Mars has blue berries! You don't believe it. Here is the picture taken by Mars Rover Opportunity. These blue rocks, Opportunity discovered, got named as Blueberries by NASA. These rocks are made of Hematite and Jarosite and formed when exposed to acidic water.

Parallel Universe: May not be the science fiction anymore

NASA has found the evidence of a parallel universe that was created during Big Bang. Some of the attributes of this universe poses a new perspective and also brings out evidence to theoretical possibilities which were never experienced before. In this parallel universe, time does seem to flow backwards. https://whdh.com/news/nasa-may-have-uncovered-evidence-of-bizarre-parallel-universe-where-physics-time-operate-in-reverse/ Please note that this is just one experiment and one data point is too early to establish this as a fact. More than anything, I have my own reservations. Regardless, it is an exciting discovery.
