What does it say that some of the most critical of him, those most horrified that he could become president again, are those who have worked closest to him in the White House?

What would you think of a candidate for the president of the United States of America being so insecure and starved for attention (“negative attention is better than no attention”) that he just couldn’t resist posting a “review” on X of last night’s Academy Awards before the show ended? Yeah, he did.

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. Amused? Again, you shouldn’t be. Where is that “courage” when he’s dealing with modern day dictators? None to be found. Just submissive body language, and laudable kowtowing to “strong men” by the wannabe strong man. But in the United States, you’re allowed to speak your mind, as disturbed as that mind may be, and particularly unbecoming for someone in his position. His lack of tact has not only obliterated norms for political discourse, it has lowered the standard for agreeable disagreement among the common man. If you can speak louder (in a Board of Education meeting, for instance) or indeed be threatening physically – armed or not – or wearing colors (with messages) like a street gang member, the ends justify the means.

Known as a non-reader and a TV junkie (famously watching the Jan 6 insurrection for 3 hrs. in the White House before finally being convinced by constant communication attempts by both parties, and even his FOX promoters to “call off the dogs”), wouldn’t you think he could make better use of his time than to review the Oscars? Then again, MAGA has no platform, no direction, no concrete solutions or even proposals, just obstruction of their opponent’s genuine efforts to do the job that they were elected to do.

No real measures to assure national security (at the border or internationally) nor anything to stimulate the economy. Illegal immigration INCREASED in his 4 years over Obama’s numbers. Tax breaks for the rich, the Republican modus operandi, otherwise known as “trickle-down economics,” has been proven time and time again to work only for corporations and the very wealthiest of the ruling class, NOT making its way down to the working class. The bigger and better affordable health care that he promised during his campaign in 2016? Never again mentioned after he got elected. “Get over it” was his response to one of the most recent mass shootings so in terms of ending gun violence, that is a non-issue to him. Handgun production went up 13% during his presidency. The murder rate during his term in office was the highest since 1997.

Job production? 2.9 million lost during his term in office, the first time a president in modern times left office with a deficit in the number of jobs. Unemployment up. Our trade deficit went up, not down, despite him promising to renegotiate trade deals with other countries, particularly China. Our national debt went up from $14 trillion to $21 trillion. He promised to get an infrastructure bill passed in a week and 4 years later it was a forgotten objective. Nothing done to arrest climate change. A hoax he claimed, as were so many things, or so he claimed. Completely anti-science. Embarrassingly so. (Remember the rants about wind turbines causing cancer, bleach to kill COVID, etc?)

Hateful rhetoric and threats are the names to his games. If it doesn’t benefit him financially or keep his name in the headlines, he has no interest whatsoever. He uses people and casts them aside to fend for themselves, demanding loyalty without reciprocating. How many of his cronies wind up in the heap with other fallen sycophants, either disgraced, bankrupted, incarcerated or likely all three?

Yet this temperament and lack of integrity is perfectly fine with his base. His drastic mood swings, incoherent ramblings, and acceptance of violence as the means to an end are fine. It doesn’t raise one bit of alarm that his instability encourages the Russia’s, China’s, Iran’s and North Korea’s of the world to get bolder and bolder with their influence, their overt preparation for military conflict in order with the goal of acquiring sovereign land and its resources. And don’t take your eyes off Hungary, Turkey, and/or India.

It’s amusing and entertaining to his cult, scares the daylights out of our allies around the world, and has our adversaries salivating for his victory at the polls in November. Yeah, no doubt THE trash enjoyed HIS trash about the Academy Awards on X last night because they want a leader as classless and vulgar as them. But even the host of the awards who is a professional (comedic) entertainer didn’t have to stoop to his level. He simply read the post to gathering and the millions of viewers who were watching, including the cult leader, and queried, “Isn’t it past your jail time?”

In his book "Disproven," to be released Tuesday, software engineer Ken Block told Business Insider that he was paid about $750,000 to conduct research that would verify the existence of mass voter fraud in swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.

Despite the massive payday, Block couldn't find any. He even disproved some of the claims of voter fraud within minutes, pointing to incomplete data that was wrongfully interpreted as fraudulent, that voters with the same name had been counted as duplicate votes, and that data for mail-in ballots had been wrongly flagged.

While Block said he wasn't pressured to misrepresent his findings, Trump's team didn't want to hear it when he brought them news the fraud couldn't be substantiated.
In one instance, Block confirmed that he proved one of the claims behind a Trump team lawsuit in Pennsylvania was wrong, which immediately ended the conference call he was on.

Representatives for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

All told, Block found fewer than 200 duplicate mail-in ballot votes had been fraudulently cast from all of the swing states combined, he wrote in a recent op-ed recounting his experience in AZ Central.

"Former President Trump has turned losing with grace into losing with disgrace," Block writes in his book. "He has spawned a group of losing candidates who would rather howl about voter fraud—without justification— than display the leadership qualities demanded by the positions for which they ran."

He continued: "Some of these failed candidates who make meritless accusations of voter fraud don't seem to understand their own claims. Others spurn factual accuracy. For these folks, the end goal has nothing to do with winning an election. It is about raising money or profile—or worse, about undermining our republic."

Although Trump, in particular, and the divided nation that America had become during his presidency was a running joke to the rest of the world, they are not laughing anymore.

With his emergence as the Republican nominee for the presidency in 2024, the rest of the Free World is rightfully concerned. They wonder if all of Biden's efforts to regain the trust of and efforts to unify our long-time allies will again shredded by a Trump re-election. Amidst the spread of autocracies throughout the globe, they also fear the creation of a New World Order.

They watch the chaos that Trump generates in both Congress and the courts - the legislative and judicial branches of government - and liken it to Viktor Orban's assault on the similar checks and balances in Hungary, leading to a virtual dictatorship. (Orban will be a guest of Trump's at Mar-a-Lago tomorrow.) They monitor Trump's daily convoluted, garbled, and violent messaging in speeches and on social media more than a very large percentage of Americans do themselves.

By contrast, MAGA morons are still entertained by the 4x-indicted, twice impeached, convicted sexually assaulting, demented and disgraced cult leader.

Friends and foes alike logically consider the definite possibility of the most powerful nation in the world going the route of yet another autocracy. They wonder, some gleefully, how the U.S. population can be so apathetic, so ignorant and uninformed, so deaf and blind to his incoherent and violent ramblings?

Whereas Biden has deliberately approached international conflicts without direct intervention of American troops, MAGA is oblivious to the threat that American boots are obligated to be on the ground should a NATO country be attacked, resulting in combat fatalities and casualties. And considering that so many military families are from Red states, it's a hard way for reality to sink in, after the fact when it's too late.

Let their be no doubt that we need our allies as much as they need us. The only time that Article 5 of NATO has ever been invoked was to assist the U.S. in its retaliation after the 9/11 bombing of the World Trade Center.

One wonders if they are exposed to the entirety of not only Trump's lunacy, but of the extreme mental deterioration of its cult leader. The right-leaning media outlets certainly
don't air it.

Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla), one of the most conservatives in Congress, negotiated the toughest immigration bill of all-time. Biden agreed to sign it, over the opposition of his own Democrat progressives. When it seemed like the deal was going to be done, Trump, thinking it would seem like a win for the Biden and the Dems - WITH NO REGARD FOR THE "DISASTER AT THE BORDER," - once again thought of himself the election, and not the country. He told the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, not to bring it up for a vote. Lankford was rightfully enraged, stating that it was a tougher policy than will ever be agreed to again.

Pollyanna – a blindly or foolishly optimistic person

Imagine if the rich ruling class put aside their greed for a few moments and considered what their lives would be like if they didn’t own a home, or perhaps didn’t even have a roof over their heads. Furthermore, what being malnourished would be like, not having even the barest of health care coverage or access to life-sustaining drugs; not being availed to a college education or even quality public education as a youth. Basically, all of the things that are fundamental to personal happiness and professional/financial success, and what the working class and generationally disadvantaged struggle desperately to obtain.

Imagine if the prejudiced could unpack their biases of sexism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and actually lived by the Judeo-Christian principles on which our country was founded, actually practiced their faith in earnest, rather than merely attending services and celebrating religious holidays a few times a year. “There but for the grace of God go I.” In terms of the Evangelical World, imagine that they part the fingers that are covering their eyes in terms of 91 criminal indictments ranging from morality to election fraud to national security. How antithetical to Christ one man could possibly be. Did I mention morality?

Imagine the population of America being informed; knowing what freedom truly, truly means. Did I mention ‘truly?’ Maybe take a few moments to channel ancestors of theirs, military men and women who used weapons inferior to the ones that proliferate American society unparalleled in any other civilized country) – and kill innocent civilians on our own streets, schools, and churches – to fight overseas wars in the name of freedom? At the very least, imagine it on the days when Old Glory flies in people’s yards and cemeteries – Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Veteran’s Day.

Perhaps we can muster a little appreciation (and pride) that the current administration implemented America’s unprecedented vaccination campaign, estimated to save one million American lives and preventing another 10 million COVID hospitalizations. The previous administration? Quite simply, one million died, 40% of whom (400,000 people) would have been spared had it not been for an inept and insufficient response by the MAGA leader. As if that wasn’t enough, it led to a sinking economy for his successor to deal with.

In 2008, the American people turned to Barack Obama to lead the country through the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. His strategy was to make the economy work for the middle class and those fighting to join it. Consequently, Trump inherited a good economy from Obama. (No wonder he continues to mention Obama when he means Biden.)

Conversely, economists say that Trump’s economic legacy will be defined by his failure in leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic that exacerbated the financial downturn; domestic policies that overwhelmingly benefited the wealthy, and international trade policies that hurt U.S. industry while simultaneously alienating allies. These are facts, not propaganda that far-right conservative disinformation machine would have one believe about tax cuts and tariffs. Did I mention that he instituted DOMESTIC policies that overwhelmingly benefited the wealthy ruling class and INTERNATIONAL trade policies that hurt U.S. industry and the working class?

Given the mess that Biden inherited from Trump, potentially as bad as the one that Obama inherited from Bush, what did Biden choose to do? First, he invested in COVID testing, instituted measures recommended by the CDC, and set into motion an all-out vaccination campaign.

With the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the world faced another economic crisis on top of the pandemic. Food and energy were the new issues. Biden sprung into action to unite Western allies who were in disarray due to Trump’s departure from diplomacy with them, both in the areas of defense and climate, as well as Trump backing out of the Iran Pact, which was originally negotiated to monitor Iran’s nuclear weapon development. Then, Trump cozied up to Putin – taking his “word” about no election interference over our own intelligence community. The admiration of China’s Xi, love letters with Kim Jong Un of North Korea, hosting Viktor Orban of Hungary at Mar-a-Lago, his son-in-law Jared’s $2B deal with Saudi Arabia?

Imagine an appreciation that the U.S. has rebounded economically faster and stronger than any other developed nation, OR that inflation has slowed and in some cases reversed itself, OR that the stock market (Trump’s barometer of success although it doesn’t impact 40% of Americans) is at an all-time high, OR that unemployment remains at its lowest rate in decades, OR that the U.S. is again a leader by investing in the largest climate change initiative it has become the world’s largest producer of oil.

Imagine that the Republicans were really sincere in their criticism of immigration at the southern border, a problem that has existed for decades under both Democrat and Republican White Houses. After Democrats conceded to the many demands of the Republicans in regards to passing an immigration bill, and the Republican leadership agreed that it surpassed their wildest expectations in their favor, all it took for its demise was a phone call from the former Liar-in-Chief to the MAGA Speaker of the House to kill the bill. Is that a party and candidate for president that believes that murderers and rapists and fentanyl traffickers are pouring in? Logic would tell us, I imagine, that we shouldn’t wait until January 2025 for it to pass under a Republican president. Yet that is their plan.

Although people lead hectic lives, imagine if half of the U.S. population realized and acknowledged that they are uniformed and made an effort to educate themselves. Shouldn’t ALL women realize that they are not considered as equals as a result of Republicans successfully repealing Roe v Wade? Shouldn’t everyone who relies on pharmaceuticals to live normal lives that it is the Democrats who have successfully lowered some prices drastically and seek to continue while Republicans conversely support “Big Pharma’s” high prices?

Imagine that in 2024, in the leadup to the presidential election, even uninformed voters called on what’s left of their common sense to see who is the uniter and who is the divider of our STILL great nation. Who was the man of action, the man of vision, and who is the one of grievance, vile, and evil? Who has the respect of the rest of the world with his thoughtful, measured, and adult approach to international matters? On the other hand, former Australian PM Turnbull described Trump as a bully until he witnessed first-hand Trump’s admiration of Putin, which reminded him of a 12-year old meeting his 18-year old star football hero, stating that it was “really creepy.”

Both candidates are old, granted. One works out daily, but has spinal arthritis, which was exacerbated by a broken foot that causes him to walk like an elderly man; a stutter from childhood, a detailed encyclopedia of knowledge on every issue, foreign and domestic; and a heart of gold, exuding genuine empathy for all who are experiencing grief, ending his speeches with prayers for the American people and the troops (military). The other is a profusely sweating deranged lunatic when he is not reading from a teleprompter, who has called the military “suckers and losers,” has never spoken about policy extensively (any topic, any speech) because he doesn't read and has no desire to learn; who is running to stay out of jail, to feed his ego, to enrich himself, whose speeches are laced with very personal insults, vulgarity unbecoming of POTUS, and self-aggrandizement. Consequently, Trump makes 10 gaffes to Biden’s 1, and that doesn’t include the endless lies. If his lips are moving, he’s lying, pathologically.

And finally, I would imagine that by November we should all realize that the vote that we cast might be – like in the autocracies that Trump envies and envisions as “ruler” – the absolute last one that will really count. Does that make me a Pollyanna?

If isolationism and neutrality was ever a reasonable stance, considering that throughout history certain societies have embraced expansionism and imperialism for various reasons, certainly it is evident that the concept of isolationism seems more and more archaic., outdated, obsolete, antiquated. Even traditionally Nordic nation neutrality has seen Finland and Sweden's apply for and be granted induction into NATO recently.

Why did they bother? Putin's designs on western territory and democracy perhaps? Of course. What happens if Ukraine falls? Does China take Taiwan? Does North Korea threaten South Korea? Do both set their sights on independent states in the South Pacific or Japan? Should the U.S. turn a blind eye to Iran's objectives in Israel, Saudi Arabia, and UAE? America doesn't have its own national security interests in the region?

As Senator Arthur Vandenberg (R-Michigan 1928-1951), formerly a resolute supporter of isolationism, wrote in his diary, “in my own mind, my convictions regarding international cooperation and collective security for peace took firm form on the afternoon of the Pearl Harbor attack. That day ended isolationism for any realist.”

In other words, a staunch American isolationist, came to the conclusion 81 years ago that the world was much too small a place to think that a country could live in their cocoon and not be affected by international matters on the other side of world. Do Trumplicans really believe that isolationism is the key to Making America Great Again?

Arthur Turnbull, former Australian Prime Minister, puts it all in simple English for all of the intellectually challenged and brainwashed Americans. And where in the world, by the way, would MAGA Trump supporters prefer to live since America will look nothing like it looks like now? Of the countries of authoritarians and dictators that Trump himself admires and indeed envies, which would you prefer the U.S. to look like in terms of human rights and moral conscience, quality of life, wealth, national security AND FREEDOM? Immigrants continue to flood the U.S. for the opportunity to experience just a fraction of what we enjoy and here we are ready to throw it all away.

And, of course, they don’t realize that should America lean towards isolationism, our economy cannot and will not thrive, and the cost of living will go up, not down. Furthermore, by shunning our long-standing allies and countries seeking democracy, they don’t realize that our own country’s security will be substantially weakened by emboldening the murderers and imperialists of Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran.

“And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve” (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).

Are you afraid yet?

I have asked this before and still can’t believe I have to ask again.

This past weekend, former president Donald Trump said that the United States would not help a NATO ally and told Russian President Vladimir Putin to do whatever he wanted to do.

Don’t tell me not to listen to him. Don’t believe what he says.

I am not to believe this — but I am to believe that the election was stolen.

I am not to believe that a jury of his peers said he sexually abused a woman. And he continued to defame that woman and he now has to pay more $80 million dollars because of what he said.

But I should not listen to him.

I should believe that the insurrection was a nice visitors’ day at the U.S. Capitol. And I should believe that he did not sit in the White House watching the horror for hours before he told them to go home.

He did not call and try to get the election officials in Georgia to get him votes?

He did not commit fraud in New York and the judge is not determining the fines for it?

I am not to believe that he told the Republican Congress to stop the bill to help at the border so there continues to be chaos for when he becomes president to solve the problems.

He had the opportunity to do that already. Remember?

If I am not to listen to him for these and more — when am I to believe what he says?

Are you afraid yet? We should be very afraid.
