I like chess, philosophy, and freedom. I don't like things that are vague.
seanwr96: So the government are continuing their mission to further infantilise every citizen of Great Britain by mandating that everyone has to wear a face muzzle because God forbid they let people have basic freedoms and allow them to determine the level of risk they wish to expose themselves to on their own. Clearly the nanny state knows better than you! This comes at a time when the death rate has been rapidly declining for months without this ludicrous state mandate to wear face muzzles, as it has done around the world, including countries who did not choose to lockdown the entire country as others so foolishly did, further proving how pointless this incredible over reaction has actually been.
This has got nothing to do with science either. *Some* face muzzles may slightly reduce the transfer of the virus if the wearer has the virus and is contagious but the masks are completely ineffective at preventing the wearer from contracting the virus once it is in the air. This should be obvious as there's clearly a reason why virologists wear hazmat suits and ventilators rather than a thin, ill-fitting piece of cloth over their face. Even so, if a person did already have the virus and was contagious without a face muzzle the likelihood of others contracting the virus resulting in death is literally less than 1% with most people who do contract it having incredibly mild symptoms or no symptoms at all! Can we please get some perspective here?
The reality is that this overreach of government has absolutely nothing to do with keeping people safe, it is so paranoid people can FEEL safe! Like most things in politics the muzzle mandate has absolutely no basis in fact or reality and is only being done due to pressure from the gullible public and the media which politicians feel the need to appease.
I have no problem with people who choose to wear face muzzles or take any other kind of placebo to make themselves feel better without actually doing anything at all. Unfortunately for them, it does not make them any more virtuous no matter how much they think it does. I do however take an issue with the government forcing freedom loving people to wear muzzles "for their own good" the implication being that we are all too stupid to make our own decisions. Quite why those in government who have done an extraordinary amount of unnecessary damage to the economy and country as a whole in a relatively short period of time and has completely failed in it's goal of containing the virus somehow knows best is beyond me.
This state mandate is obviously completely unenforceable and I will not be participating in the collective delusion that somehow this is for the greater good and I certainly will not be wearing one. I encourage all of you do the same. Do not comply with tyranny
tstarr8481: To think independently, we must Ignore the noises around us that polarize and try to promote fear and division. Most of us can feel it in our guts when things are not as they should be. Whenever it takes disaster to unite, politics generally divide. The promotion of intense uncertainty has the effect of a nation's people to retreat into the groups in which they feel the most secure instead of bringing people together. Unfortunately childish actions such as name calling and shaming have become paramount and a part of our everyday lives. Acts of ostracism occur frequently and has become a norm. We all know better. We all should be better.
