Why I feel a cat is more in our control than a dog

I have heard, read and thought that a dog is more human friendly than a cat. But in my experience if you don't consider the time you spend with your pets a cat is more human than a dog even though a cat can't remember to many things you do to them. They are a kind of suffering from STML. Any thoughts?
