RubyAdams: Never thought I'd be so happy about a guilty verdict. But 3. Whoa! In criminal court, that's beyond a reasonable doubt - 99.9% ... oh my stars. Doesn't change the grief of Grorge Floyd's family, but it goes a long way in our culture.
I didn't follow the case closely, but praise God for delivering justice.
Sunny B Blessed: I hope this will show police that they are not above the law, they are paid to protect and serve, not to murder the people they are supposed to be protecting and serving.
I also hope that pre-employment testing of police will be much more in depth, checking the history of applicants, to root out anyone who was, for example, known to be a bully in high school, or have racist things on their Facebook pages, etc. They should also be drug tested for steroids and other drugs every month.
The jury pool is a random selection of registered voters. Then each is questioned before seated on the jury. They can't have prior knowledge of the case. No idea how they seated this jury. Each lawyer is allowed to question potential jurors.they are allowed to dismiss potential jurors who answer the questions "wrong" for example "have you or any members of your immediate family been victims of a felony?" The prosecution might like to hear yes as more empathetic, but the defense might dismiss thinking biased.
Juries also can't watch the news during the trial, talk to media, and sometimes are sequestered.
Long process but no one said guilty to make black people happy. All three charges require a unanimous decision (12 guilty votes) and the verdict came back rather quickly, so I doubt there was much discussion.
A very good movie that shows how a jury works is 12 Angry Men with Henry Fonda. Yes, it's old. Black & white

Police commit crimes. Some are bad people. Wait. Some police commit crimes.
