rak03252: wrote this almost a year ago, when George Floyd was murdered... i feel a lot better about it today...but my hopes are that real change will come...
sad, that this poem was necessary to write.... stay safe !
after a long night of riots, unrest can’t begin to imagine what’s coming next a man was murdered a cop was charged in these days of disease as the shadow grows large
people been locked down quarantined for weeks people disgusted as the president speaks a man couldn’t breath as cops held him down in these days of disease as the shadow goes round
they chant, carry signs and march thru the streets spreading the word and disease in the heat just a matter of time something bound to burst a man killed in the street but the shadow still thirsts
can’t bring George Floyd back his life carelessly snuffed human lives matter enough is enough there’s tears and there’s grief we’re in this together there’s a mask on the shadow will tomorrow be better
RnKris84: There are no words to describe how totally devastated I am that this ever happened. Justice was served. It was time, long ago, to do better. I have several friends of different races. I look at them and see love, friendship and joy. I am colorblind to race. We are all the same inside. I save any patient. I wish Mr. Floyd had the chance to be saved. This is a beautiful poem that reminds us....we all bleed red. Thank you Rak. Kristine
WarriorMouse: Very beautiful poem. Times are very difficult now. I keep trying but I can't please everyone. Just in my own little mouse world. Some look at me with disdain no matter how hard I try. -sighs-
moonchildmistres: Again, your words amaze me, touch my soul and yep I cried. Because, your right, nothing has changed is why.... I applaud your talent Rak. Thanks for sharing.

MASK ON THE SHADOW©
(for George Floyd)
by rak
after a long night
of riots, unrest
can’t begin to imagine
what’s coming next
a man was murdered
a cop was charged
in these days of disease
as the shadow grows large
people been locked down
quarantined for weeks
people disgusted
as the president speaks
a man couldn’t breath
as cops held him down
in these days of disease
as the shadow goes round
they chant, carry signs
and march thru the streets
spreading the word
and disease in the heat
just a matter of time
something bound to burst
a man killed in the street
but the shadow still thirsts
can’t bring George Floyd back
his life carelessly snuffed
human lives matter
enough is enough
there’s tears and there’s grief
we’re in this together
there’s a mask on the shadow
will tomorrow be better
So well written.. so sad...
So sad all the way around for Floyd and for brothers in Blue ~~
This is a beautiful poem that reminds us....we all bleed red.
Thank you Rak.
