A Reason to Detox

i'm here
in between the gusts
where the winds hit the chimes
you can hear it chatter
down the street

while the sound of a million lies
slowly articulate around your neck
and crumble at your feet
where all those people told you
that you couldn't make it farther
but you did

the day comes
slowly you watch the sun rise
its beautiful and you picture it
without contact lenses
even though blurry
you can imagine crystal clear images anyway

as you stand tall
aging by the second
and with each breath you pass on
one second longer
and you throw your hands in the air
feeling that same gust
that same musical imprint

carpe diem

two words go in your head
as you catch the sky between your fingers
and they twirl the clouds as if finger painting
and you do
you paint the sky
and look up above you
as you know that those are indeed angels up there
with crooked halos
and the dog smoking the pipe
is more then someone addicted to tobacco
and even though nobody shares your vision
you move on the day

and as you move on
you shut the door
walk into your home
and sleep away
while the chimes blow

wardrobe malfunctions

i've always liked a deeper shade of orange
color that took me places
you know, the kind of tint placed deep i the corner of a room
where the shadows lurk right above
away from the lights and fixtures
nothing super artificial either
its like, if it was bright outspoken always accessible
it just didn't have the right swag
i knew that flavor before
tasted it on my tongue one too many times
wasn't very unique nor did it help me sleep
bright light never helps me sleep
not only that but it can be relatively easy to overlook it
and because its so ill-tempered its oft neglected
you pad your room and leave the orange to linger in a closet
and throw it next to a skeleton
maybe your sexuality too but that's only for a few select people
you close the closet tight and walk away
it stays though it doesn't leave you
and when you open the closet
it jumps out at you like your pet dog
who always loves when you return home
it doesn't matter how many times you put it back in the closet
tuck it away from your life
its meant to be here for you
and it'll never leave

you take the shirt back out
with its padded orange color
put it on your body and smell the perfume
the cologne
the body spray
deodorant
whatever it is you can smell it linger
around your body and skin
you leave the house
with years of age on your body
you look at the patio and see a passing by stranger
with a similarly colored shirt on
with similar smell
you both get close begin to speak
and its natural
and you pass and continue your day

the day continues and as you make it on time
and punch into the clock at work
you look around you
and everyone has that bright shade here
its not the same kind of shirt
its not the same smell
not the same people
you get close
and you talk
its not natural and it doesn't feel right
so you clock out
make it home

back on the way to the patio where that same dressed
dark tinted person walks
you both stop glance at eachother
wave say hello and go back to your homes
and this is where you hold on to the closet
and this is where you hang all your bright
yellow shirts

my dating profile

Just an average everyday run of the mill poet looking for gluten free reasons to stop dining at fast food places. Hopefully the fine dining table is still around and the ,host or hostess, I'm not judging loves us both and lets us talk. When we dive into the meal I hope to see your caviar lips press sculpt the new words that riddle your story for me to disect. One by one we ravish the wine filled glasses of merlot, while im secretly spitting it out because i don't like alcohol. You notice however, and call me out on it. That is where I confess im actually gay. You laugh, things go over the roof, your drunk, its ok?

^^^^ If this doesnt describe me i don't know what will.

I don't want to feel these walls.

I live down this corridor
where lights flicker every time,
I try to breathe.

At the end,
a blank door
where I hope to paint her
across the layers of wood.
trying to keep this place
from going under.

this light will give out
the bulb will fall to the ground
and shatter.

as I get close to the door
it feels warm and the knob burns my hand.
the other-side, unattainable.

It feels dark here
because I allow you to siphon out my heart.

even in somber times
color resides where
I hope her voice to lay,
but that goes to the jury
and the panel judges it
“not for now.”

Holding out my arm for a mediocre selfie.
Smiling for the camera:
Click.
Flash.
Capture.

Look beautiful again,
with that half-broken smile.
