I am not a pessimist, but this old world is so full of bullshit it’s driving me crazy. People would rather lie when it’s easier to tell the truth. People hate each other when it would be so much simpler to care about each other. People value power and money over happiness and wonder. I’m flabbergasted that the amount in one’s bank account, the car they drive, or the size of one’s house is how we judge someone’s worth.
I have been at rock bottom, or what most people would consider rock bottom, and I still was happy. I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything in the world. You could send me back there at any time and I would survive. People are so afraid of having nothing that they can’t imagine the freedom of having nothing left to lose. I’m not saying that it’s easy, it’s not, but anything that makes you think, value what you already have, or want to better yourself is something worth going through.
We complain so damn much, and then when the time comes to do something about it we shirk our responsibilities. It’s so easy to blame everyone else for our problems. If you have the energy to complain then you have the energy to do something about it. We’re so damn lazy or afraid to fail that we never try.
Life is hard, I’m not saying it isn’t, but to just sit and wallow around in self-pity is ridiculous. We have this strange idea that you have to be lucky or talented to get anywhere. Life takes work. Life takes thought. Life is not taking the easy way out. Getting people to put in effort is like pulling teeth.
We’ve lost our sense of wonder, the spark that makes us ask how, what, why, who. We have the knowledge of the centuries at our finger tips and we use it for such inane pursuits. This is the first time in the world’s history that almost anyone anywhere can search for information and find it. With the swipe of a finger all of written history and then some can be accessed. Technology has given us great access to knowledge, and that’s power, but we seem so unwilling to use it. http://www.bethhmoore82.com/
