sarah_spirit: I agree with so much of this .. the pharmaceuticals have always been like organised crime .. back handing docs and health bosses .. it stinks .. as for the rest it’s so true .. I’ve had so many patients like this .. doctors prescribe.. it’s what they do and guidelines dictate it’s what they have to do .. over here doctors are finally using social prescribing.. using talking therapies.. prescribing excersise .. social contact .. support groups that give practical help education advice and support .. one of my patients was on 9 medications .. and with all my patients I liked to get the full picture with them so I would always discuss what they took and why .. half of them didn’t know what they were taking .. what it did .. and how to take it so often they were taking it wrong anyway.. when we looked at hers it turned out one of the first meds she’d been given was notorious for causing heartburn .. so then he gave her something for that .. then she got a rash so was prescribed something for that .. which caused another symptom for which he have something else .. and so on .. I made her an appointment with him .. added a query to her notes on the meds and when she came back she was over the moon that she was only taking one medication and her other symptoms had gone .. thanks for posting Noyd x
