Why we hate God and hide from God
Most people have issues with God, even believers. A reason is our own weaknesses, shame and sense of guilt – we are not good enough, which creates a sense of judgement and fear. These are endemic amongst humans. Though why? It is called the ‘Wrath of God’ – we know we are being judged, by others, Society and it seems, God too. Horrible psychosis!
Genesis 2 v 11 states ‘I (human) heard the sound of Thee (God) in the Garden and I was afraid because I was naked; So I hid myself*.’ Naked? Vulnerable, unprotected, moral issues, weak, sexual desires that can result in reproduction and responsibility of a child.
God says to humans ‘Where are you?’ God is always calling us – ‘Adam, where are you?’ And God asks the human, ‘Who says you are naked?’ We all know good and not good – right from wrong. Why do people do wrong and hurt nature and people?
The human ‘hid’* We naturally do not want God and we hide from God, even though God says ‘come back and return to your Creator and Father.’ Then we make excuses not to confront this fear. We try and deny, reject and forget God to stop the spiritual fear as fear comes from judgement and call to accountability and responsibility – the moral responsibility and sovereignty issues. I obey no one – self/ego. We accuse and blame – victimization. That is why some angry people say ‘God does not love me!’ Or ‘there cannot be a loving God out there!’ This is because their spirits or souls are not joined with God’s spirit. Sadly, the effects of sin separate us from the source of life and love – God.
However, V 15 shows God’s solution to this, ‘And I will put enmity between you (Satan) and the woman. And between your seed and her seed. He shall crush you on the head (defeat) and you will bruise him on the heel.’ God will send a SAVIOUR who will defeat Satan, the Accuser of God and humans and ALL people can freely come back into the Garden and fellowship with God again as was and is God’s ideal. The genuine way to be free of vulnerability, fear, shame and judgement is to unite with the God’s Saviour, Christ Jesus (the Anointed One) and the work He has achieved for all of us. John 3 v 16 summarises this, ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes (fully Trusts) in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’
Is it that simple? Yes it is! God provides the solution and we accept that. Ephesians 2 states ‘As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works (self effort), so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ Amazingly, one of the most exciting things in life is to be reconnected to God, to re-join with the source of all life and love again as God planned all along. We call it ‘being Born Again.’
So what can I do? TALK to God and accept God’s solution and Saviour Christ Jesus! Ask God to rescue from this problem. ‘God, you know what is wrong with me and the world, please help me today. I need to connect with you and your love again and be free from the pain of sin and my pride. Please accept me fully today and come and live in my soul. Thank you so much for the work of Jesus on the Cross for me, in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ.’ Pray this now quietly to God. God hears.
And because of all this we all have a right to exist, 'to be', we are valued because God says we are born valuable, we are made valuable. God designed and planned for you to be valuable. So as we all reconnect with God, then we return to the innocence and beauty of being a child of God. There is wonderful news for all of us, we EXIST because God decided it; therefore we can be more positive about life because we are loved perfectly by God. God deals with the sin-disease and the Holy Spirit changes our lives over time and frees us from the effects of sin and rejection. How about that? See chapter … on being changed by God.
