I'm a Pacific Northwest editor, writer and author living a meaningfully green, liberal, interesting weather life in Seattle, a city quite like San Francisco, where I have also lived.
I'm pretty typical of my city and my region. I grew up with nature, the water and a love of knowledge and these traits characterize me today.
I'm considered open-minded within boundaries and generous as long as it's not presumed upon. I enjoy good conversation and in a battle of wits, I can take as good as I can give. Smiling.
University educated, I've been a journalist most of my life, with time off for honest work at Boeing, fighting forest fires, pulling green chain in a lumber mill and working grapes and hops. I am also a two-tour Navy combat vet.
I live in a big house with friends on three wooded acres and the landlord is a friend of mine. It's a good place to be while saving up for the down on a place a lot smaller and closer to the ocean.
I enjoy meeting people on here and sometimes from here to in person. I play, however, by the same rules I do offline. So if you're sincere, have looked at my profile and want substance rather than show, let me know.

minstrel312: This is what happens if you not only talk to plants but listen to them as well. Fred and Wilma here started out three years ago and have thrived for the last year or so in totally artificial light. So if you talk to your plants, excellent. Just watch what you say to them. They get big enough and they get mad at you, you must might turn up missing a family pet. Voice of experience. So meet Fred & Wilma.

minstrel312: A cold and clear day in Seattle. And nope, not just another "pretty face". But I wear well.
minstrel312: Seattle sunrise. In the center background is the Sea-Tac Tower. This property is 373 feet above sea level. That fog is shrouding the major American north-south traffic and railway routes, as well as the beginning of a national east-west freeway system. Another example of "Seattle Sunshine" and just as cold as the frost on those roofs.

minstrel312: Incredible does not come close to describing young ventriloquist Darci Lynne and her singing rabbit. Petunia. She literally brought the house down. This one leads to others. A talent like this is a gift from a God who loves us in spite of ourselves.
minstrel312: Playing For Change is a concept whose time has come. This one will lead you to others. It is 75 Cubans around the world performing Guantanamera. It sounds as though they are all on the same stage.
minstrel312: Here's one of my favorite songs, from the King, by the international singing sensation "Sissel," who this year celebrates three full decades of showing us what angels sound like. This is one of her first hits.
