the steps

Your first step,is small,
your last will be small.
Your father and mother will accompany the first,
the last one you will be alone .

When a year has passed you will walk,child,
Many steps ungaurded.
Who knows what sort of steps they will then be
in the light and in the night?

Walk bold step,take a brave step,
The world is great and yours.
After the last step we shall,my child,
be together again.
