It was my turn to give them the nickel tour....what a treat! After showing them around I took questions. Here's the questions I was asked: 1. "Do you ever do any tricks when you slide down that pole?" 2. "Where’s the firehouse dog? Every firehouse has one of them Dalmunchkin dogs with dots on it". 3. "What’s the fastest you’ve ever gone in that firetruck?" 4. "When it’s really hot in the summertime do you guys ever squirt each other with the hose?' 5. "Do your moms come here to make lunch for you guys?" .........and finally from the sweetest most innocent looking little girl: 6. "I heard Mrs. Sullivan and Miss Bamford talking and they said you’re a hunk. Would you go on a date with Miss Bamford?' ........and with that question the teachers hustled the kids onto the school bus Ya gotta love kids! Damn! mackjonesmack87: Three days in a row off.......woohoo ! I'm heading up to the mountains to do some hiking and camping. Adios. mackjonesmack87: Just when I thought I was getting better......broken ribs is the gift that keeps on giving. One of the ribs punctured a lung.....so it collapsed. I recovered from that and now I have pneumonia. mackjonesmack87: Well, I got a little banged up yesterday and am heading into surgery tomorrow morning. I won't be in here for a while so be good and have fun people! View all 10 posts lidiya_handayani: Oo my.. ive just read about this mack. Im so sorry.. wishing sppedy recovery for u and 2 other guys too.. be better soon.. kisses mackjonesmack87: Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy to pick up....... So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. mackjonesmack87: 101 degrees today and we were out fighting a warehouse fire for 11 hours. Guys were dropping like flies from heat exhaustion. Only three of us made it back to the firehouse.....everyone else is still being treated at the hospital. I took a cold shower for over an hour .....and I'm still hot. View all 5 posts missywarren: I won't even use the oven when it is this hot - I don't understand how you guys can be out there in this heat fighting a fire. Try to keep cool Mack! mackjonesmack87: Coming home from the station last night I heard a large thump on the side of my truck so I pulled over and got out. On the side of the road is a really big owl just sitting there in a daze.......he must have flown head on into the side of my truck. I didn't want him to get hit by another car. I took off my tee shirt so I could wrap it around him and pick him up without getting clawed.....set him down on the seat next to mine and brought him home. I found a big box in the garage and put him in it with a towel and placed it on my front porch. This morning I opened the flaps on the box and the owl looked much more alert ....he hopped right out and flew away. It just hasn't been a good week with birds for me. lavendertea: Oh wow. I believe in animal totems and that they send messages.I'm good with animal totems. The owl represents deep connection with wisdom and intuitive knowledge. If you have the owl as totem or power animal, you’re likely to have the ability to see what’s usually hidden to most. When the spirit of this animal guides you, you can see the true reality, beyond illusion and deceit. The owl also offers for those who have it a personal totem the inspiration and guidance necessary to deeply explore the unknown and the magic of life. There may be some positive changes coming your way. I love birds. mackjonesmack87: So we got called out to an elderly lady's home. She meets us outside and says she burnt a grilled cheese sandwich and now her smoke alarm is going off and won't shut off. I walk into the kitchen...reach up to the ceiling and take the smoke detector down and remove the battery....and the alarm is still sounding. I ask her if she has more than one detector and she says: "Yes young man I have one in my bedroom too" I go in there and reach up and take that one down and take out the battery....and the alarm is still sounding. So now I'm confused and follow the sound into the living room. In the corner of the room there is something covered with a sheet. I ask her what's under the sheet and she says "that is just Pete". So I go over not knowing what to expect....thinkin Pete may be her dead husband or something. I lift the sheet - turns out it was a giant bird cage with her parrot Pete in it. Sitting on his perch imitating the sound of a smoke detector perfectly! Lisa_love21: I wonder what made Pete start imitating the smoke detector... that's so crazy, but funny.. Thanks for sharing mackjonesmack87 in reply to Lisa_love21: Apparently the old lady is a terrible cook and burns a lot of stuff on the stove....so the smoke detector in the kitchen always goes off and she waves a dish towel at it to clear the smoke until the detector stops. But Pete's heard it enough to imitate it. View all 5 posts (Post deleted by staff ) mackjonesmack87: Fighting a fire when the temperature is already in the 90's really knocks the crap out of ya. Five of the guys ended up in the hospital hooked up to IV's to re-hydrate. .I just stepped on the scale and I weigh seven pounds less than what I weighed when we went out. mackjonesmack87: Just got the word that I've been "volunteered" to go help fight the wildfires in California. Heading to the airport now so I'll be missing in action for a while. Have fun peeps and be good.
