Seems like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

Des27: I would never live life in fear. I would never lock myself up either. Life is precious.. Take Covid out of things and there are so many scenarios that could play out the mine you leave your house each day that could unfortunately end your time here. You don’t think about it though and carry out your day like you normally would. This is no different. Turn off the tv and go have a nature day with some loved ones.

RubyAdams: I'm sorry Karen. It's getting to me too. I was vaccinated in March. Yet, I still must wear a mask and follow all of these annoying rules.

I guess it's making me angry. I did what I was supposed to but because other people didn't, I'm still forced to mask.

I'm also tired of all of the dying. As a preschool teacher whose students are to young to be vaccinated, I worry about them.

Karen33405: With the rollout of the vaccine and infection rates gradually declining through June, there was hope. But with the resistance of some to get vaccinated and take safety precautions combined with the Delta variant, we’re back to the same infection level as January. It’s like we’re in quicksand, the more we struggle...the more we sink. It’s so upsetting. The suffering and death just continues.

Majorcut: the problem is with the lies that the anti-vaxxers are spreading. I rather play it safe than be in the hospital fighting for my life with covid. I have friends of mine recently who wasn't vaccinated and are dead now. Again I have some who survived it and still want to get vaccinated. So until the lies stop and peopel get vaccinated . we will never see an end to this.

Asiababe in reply to Majorcut: I am nurse and I see patients not vaccinated, they get really sick. Vaccinated dont become patients coz they dont catch it. Or if catch it, dont really get sick.
Antivaxxeers spreading lies should be in jail.
They shouldn't be allowed to work anyway coz they will spread virus to workmates, customers, patients.
I have both jabs, didn't even feel needle and only side effect was painful shoulder few days later.
Some people saying covid is hoax, they also should be jail.
I don't care about their health but I do care about health of others who are in danger from these idiots

WarriorMouse: Being an essential worker, this is extremely stressful for me. I still must work every day, run errands, shop and try to avoid exposure although I'm fully vaccinated. It's very likely if I passed it on to my disabled older husband he would not do well. Some people don't see it as a public health crisis and my rights to stay healthy and alive and keep my family the same are to me, more important than their "rights to whatever they think they're squawking about". I have never imagined the lack of common sense and lack of respect for others health and lives until this covid crisis. God help us please!

Asiababe in reply to WarriorMouse: over 600,000 dead in USA, president who would not lockdown, deny covid even real. NZ lockdown when just one case of new Delta and aiming for 90% vaccination. No Delta deaths but 800 cases. Says a lot.

Sunny B Blessed
Sunny B Blessed: Karen, it's getting to me too. Over 675,000 people dead in the U.S. from Covid, with no end in sight. We got vaccinated a while back, and we still wear masks and social distance, and we don't go out with friends anymore, or go on vacations or to restaurants or concerts or the ballet. And it's a hot hot summer here, so we can't even spend time in the park right now.

All I can say is, I'm hopeful that we vaccinated folks who still mask, will get through this within a few more years, and all those anti-vaxxers might die from it, and therefore stop the spread.

I know I will get hateful replies for saying that, and I truly don't wish death on anyone, but if people bring it on themselves, and also keep spreading it to others because they refuse to get the vaccination, somehow I'm not really sympathetic if they die of it.

Alicewildchild in reply to Asiababe: Yea it’s not that good hun…NZ is a prison and tho the initial lockdown was correct there is no forward plan; just wait and see. The trouble is that the govt has boxed itself into a corner and is trying for total elimination…the trouble when you are ruled by health professionals above everyone else. The MIQ system is a shambles and an embarrassment. The politicians will all long be gone when the debt has to be repaid…no one should be crowing over the NZ so called success; except possibly guardian readers

Karen33405 in reply to Sunny B Blessed: I don’t wish covid death on anyone, vaccinated or unvaccinated. But the only way to end this is vaccination (unless there’s a medical condition that prohibits you), masks, social distancing and other safety precautions.

Des27
Des27: The part of most of this that bothers me. Is how easy everyone is blaming the unvaccinated. You do realize that if the vaccine was the total end to all of this those vaccinated right now would have no chance of getting sick.

I won’t if get into a dialogue about the vaccine though. The part that blows my mind in this..

Everyone speaks about the science of things.. let’s talk about the science. This is a man made virus that specifically targeted the elderly of this world. It attacked in the most nasty of ways. This is a biological weapon end of story. Doesn’t matter if it was intentional released or accidentally. There should be an absolute uproar that anywhere in the world these types of test are being funded and conducted. Without this we will have another one of these events in the future.

Next there should be an uproar on the mismanagement of all of this. I’m a New Yorker and despite the fact I was not living in NY during Covid. My entire family and friends are still there. The mismanagement of Covid when billions were spent putting up makeshift military hospital, sending the army boat in to handle Covid cases, yet none of it was utilized. What was done instead, was the elderly were placed right back into the nursing homes if the didn’t require a vent so it could spread through the homes like wild fire. The same goes for Michigan and many other states. There was no uproar at all over any of this and there should have been.

I can continue but the blame is so misdirected and not in the right places.

She will be SO glad to hear it's just a political move. You think they replaced her living, healthy baby with a dead one just to fuck with her or what, if this is just all a scare tactic.

Luviissa: Please try to keep smiling Karen 🌹

Put it this way Hun, try working a 14 hour shift in ER then driving home and going through a part of your city where there are people who don't appreciate the seriousness of what we are facing and people are out on the streets as normal. During a Total Lockdown.
That's when as a HCP you feel like giving up 🌹

RubyAdams: I'm so confused. My lifelong Republican great-uncle in Alabama caught Covid-19 and died for a Dem stunt? I'll notify his widow, oh wait, I can't because she also died from Covid-19.

That's all I will say. Reading that comment just struck a nerve.

Not debating, but couldn't let the asinine benighted comment stand.

Karen33405: Getting out and getting more exercise is a good idea. It would benefit me both physically and mentally. A lot of times I feel like I’m in prison at home. I do go out but I should make it a daily routine. I’ll bring my mom along. It has to be early morning since it can get hot and humid around here.
