XHuntressX: One of the side effect of my Autoimmune is insomnia. I have discovered a few things that work for me. While what works for me, might not work for another I figured I will mention what I do...Incase it is not something you have tried. Also before I suggest what I do...Have you seen your Doc? Ruled out a potential medical reason for why you might not be sleeping? I know when my thyroid tanked..I was not sleeping much at all ( 2-3 hrs a night, if I was lucky) I was dead tired all the time. If your thyroid levels are off...it can throw off multiple body rhythms
Majority of humans are also magnesium deficient, So maybe fill the tub with some Epsom salt and baking soda....soak in it for at least 20 mins. The baking soda will help your body to grab the magnesium through osmosis. 1 mg a night of Melatonin ( you do not want to take larger than 1 mg...more can actually keep you awake)
I do a lot of meditation. I know a lot of people struggle with meditating...Myself included ..when I first started. It is so hard to clear your mind, and not have thoughts intrude. Its actually pretty normal in the beginning to have intrusive thoughts through out your whole meditation practice. It takes practice to learn how to quiet the mind. When the intrusive thoughts would come...I would validate them, but tell myself now was not the time to try to deal with that thought...and push it back out...and refocus on my breathing. . Breathe in to a count of 5, and exhale to a count of 5 ( Perfectly ok if you cannot reach 5, in the beginning I could not either, it took practice!) I have discovered that through deep breathing...I can trick my body into believing all is well...when it is not! The deep breathing...also helps the mind to calm. I also made it a rule.. I do not do anything but sleep in my bed. I do not read in it, or watch tv ( unless I am sick ) I have tried to make it so my body only registers bed with sleep! I will climb into bed...and if 30 minutes later I am still awake, I get up ( again trying to get body to recognize bed is only to sleep in) If we lay awake in bed , worrying...well we begin to identify bed as the place we turn our worries over in our head! Depending on mood...I get up and will either sit in a chair and read for a while ( reading can help relax the mind enough to fall asleep )or I will play some soft music on low, and just let the music soothe me.
Above all..I forgive myself for those sleepless night I had no control over. For being human , and making mistakes on this path called life. No mistake is worth keeping yourself up all night every night, punishing yourself! None of us came with owners or how to manuals. Every single day of life is a learning experience....and we are bound to get some of it wrong! There is not one single person on this Earth...Who has not messed up and badly! Our mistakes are not life sentences..but learning opportunities...They help guide us into smarter, kinder versions of ourselves. The only ones who can define us....are ourselves.
XHuntressX in reply to EmmEffinPrincess: Mine sure is this week....every creature in this house is giving me wide berth. I must have that...You'd be tasty in BBQ sauce look again.
Webangel: Your friend, naughty knows what she is talking about ! Smart gal. Do the deep breathing when you get in bed. I do 10 and think about laying on the beach in the sun. 🏖. It really does work. :bighug; take it easy today.
Needless to say, I’m in a cranky mood.
