Sphered_Root: Its not bad, but if you can wait, just wait. It will go down in a few months and if you can wait longer just wait until a seasonal sale. The thing about tech is the longer you can hold out until the next version the better you do as a cost to value of tech comparison.
A_Muse_Mint101: The GPU is 2nd best In the 2080 series, around 11 teraflops. The new Xbox has a better GPU with 12 teraflops, while the top gpu is around 14 teraflops; just for a comparison. i9 is a top level processor. Great RAM and plenty of disc space. Should run just about any game on the market right now and into the near future (2 years+).
It's a decent laptop for the price. Root is correct, if you wait it will come down further in price, eventually. The issue is how long are you willing to do that, tho.
If the stars fell: unfortunately it will always be cheaper or better in the future, so far as i can tell a comparable laptop anywhere else is between 3 and 4 thousand dollars so... it actually seems like a pretty good deal.
Hans Dunckel: That's a small screen for the price, I'd get a 17.3inch one. Gotta have a big gaming motherboard too, I made that mistake with my current laptop, it's got a 15inch one despite the size and f*cked itself when it shortcircuited. Laptops don't last long if you wanna do some hardcore gaming, also avoid Acer, not a good brand in terms of technical design (that one seems to be Lenovo though)
Sphered_Root: Elite Hans that is a good point I overlooked. Yes you need to worry about overheating with gaming laptops. Often the cooling system is overlooked in their architecture. Make sure the fans are adequate for the workload and dont keep it buried in a table if the vent fans are on the bottom.
If the stars fell: i actually dont care too much about the screen personally, i did think about the heating issue, but that may be resolvable with addition peripherals
If the stars fell: yeah that is one of the main concerns to be honest, but that aside lenovo has actually been super stable and reliable in basically every other way... so if i have to use an external keyboard im okay with that. down the road that is...
If the stars fell: the lenovos ive had were quite good and very stable and reliable, though you are right about the keyboard, the one i currently have actually does have a broken keyboard lol other than that though, its been exceptionally good, probably one of the most reliable computers ive ever had to be honest.
anyone have input on this computer im thinking of buying? 2,400 dollars but literally 800 dollars off...
