Friends | From childhood's hour I have not been As others were -- I have not seen As others saw -- I could not bring My passions from a common spring -- From the same source I have not taken My sorrow -- I could not awaken My heart to joy at the same tone -- And all I lov'd -- I lov'd alone -- Are you still around?? 0 Merry Christmas to all who celebrate, and peace and happiness to those who do not, be well all of you..🧡🥰 Sometimes the meaning gets lost in the pomp and circumstance, of flags flying, bands playing, drinks being hoisted, and the camaraderie of those who served. I do not mean to denigrate this form of remembrance, however I think, at times we lose sight of what all those deaths represent. I think that every man and woman, who has ever died or fought in a conflict between our country and another, should be honored, whether or not our personal beliefs were pro or con to that particular conflict. It is because of those who went to do battle over the years and through all the conflicts, that we are still flying the Stars and Stripes at the top of every flagpole in our country, instead of the Union Jack, or the Spanish, or the German or the Japanese, or the Korean, or the Russian flags, or any of the others, who would have liked to put their flag, on the top of those flagpoles. To these people I believe we owe our respect, our admiration, and our undying gratitude for what they have given, and for what they continue to give for us. The heart breaking burden placed on the families of those who have died in these conflicts should NEVER, EVER be forgotten, nor should the incredible mental burden placed on those men, and women who do battle in our stead, ever be slighted, or forgotten!!! We owe them a debt that there is no compensation for except remembering them always!!!! This is what Memorial Day means to me. Thank you, to all the men and women who have served and continue to do so "May the Creator of us all lay comfort, understanding, compassion, and peace at the doorstep of your souls |
