Donnajs: Ok...I may lose some friends on this post...but it's been on mind for quite a while now. I moved to Florida over 3 yrs ago. The first thing I learned was to be prepared...not to wait for the last minute to run out to build your supplies. End of the season. I use what I need to use, and start replacing it with new...ummm did you read that? end of the season...NOT the beginning or right before a Hurricane is set to hit!. I think it also relates to this horrible epidemic we are now in the midst of. .. It has been said thru various means this was bad. People laughed and skoffed..said it was fake news...blamed even the President before it even started hitting the U.S. But when you are told it hit China, you may think .ehh it's China, but then it's Korea...then Italy.......the legitimate doctors are talking..even sending emails...doesn't it make you stop and think there really is a problem?.... I almost laugh at the people running out to buy bread milk and eggs (the proverbial french toast). I have been buying and stocking long before this has started, I admit i didn't have hand sanitizer, but i alway make sure i have ample supply of hand soap, cleaning supplies, and disinfectants. Why doesn't this make sense to other people. I also hear about the poor.. if the poor had gone to the $ store they could have done the same thing ..a dollar at a time if necessarry. I'm happy to say I have supply...enough that I may be able to help someone, instead of being the one that needs help. ..i also decided to go on my short cruise..it was to the bahamas... and it was before the epidemic exploded in the U.S. now everyone who knows me knows I have compromised health issues... so i tried to be very careful... hand sanitizer was everywhere, and I used it. towelettes available at the doors of bathrooms for anyone smart enough to use them. I had a good time and I don't regret going. But on my return, and even during the cruise I felt like I was worn out ..tired....(won't mention how much we walked daily).. but when I came home, I put myself without checking with anyone on Self Isolation. It's the right thing to do ...for me...and for others.... I have an issue that I'm waiting on test results on Tuesday... cross fingers, say prayers, think good thoughts..I appreciate them all.... ....what I'm saying is this...I have no college degree.... I am not smarter than the average bear, ...I raised an intelligent son, and claim he got his smarts from me...but (shrug)...If I can come to these simple conclusions of what to do to take care of myself and my friends.... why can't the majority of people do the same? ..As we go thru this scary (to some) and funny to others... I wish you all well...and a healthy outcome....... look out for your neighbors, family and friends...be the person who can help ...and not need it.but..please...i know there are people out there who just can't make it...........if you need help...Ask for it.......someone is listening. ............ hagenduz: Oh yes, absolutely. 27 Years ago, March, Friday, March 13,1993 we had a blizzard. Four ft snow drifts, Biting wind, the high for that day was -2, in Alabama. No power, no heat. I filled the tub with water to have a supply. I had my camping equipment and a grill and had at least one hot meal a day for four days. But I was also grossly ill prepared. I immediately bought a new Coleman single burner and stove, a heavier sleeping bag and up graded outdoor cooking equipment. Plus, as you say, being here in the south we have tornadoes & hurricanes. I keep cases of bottle water on hand, plenty of charcoal. One thing I specifically looked for when I bought this house was a wood burning fire place. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst is all we can do.
