I missed out on a lot of amazing trips that my friends did because of that fear. So, one day I looked up a flight school locally. Made a appt. I met with a instructor and we immediately took off in a Cessna 150 trainer. He showed me the steps one takes to prepare for a flight. We boarded and he instructed me how to start and taxi and take off. It was the most thrilling time I ever had. When we landed, I signed up for his flight instruction and ground school. I took the lessons, sat through the ground school. I got to the point where my instructor said I was ready to solo. The day of my solo I was a nervous wreck. All morning all I did was go through each step over and over again. I later took off, I was told to go to 5000k, and make a five mile box and return to the airport. the only mistake was I didn't know the tail numbers on the plane, Thats how airport towers talk to you. The tower was contacting me over and over again, but I wasn't responding. Finally my instructor was also listening got on the radio and just "Don !!! answer the tower" I brought the plan in for a landing safely after that. I soloed I didn't pursue flying after that. I found it more expensive than I could afford. But to this day, anytime I fly its still a thrill for me. I thank myself for following through with the fear I had and over came it. donjames062: Lions finished their regular season winning the NFL / NFC Northern Division , first time in 30 years.
