 Friends         | My personal philosophy on life is actually pretty simple, but most people just can't seem to grasp it: Treat other people the way you'd like to be treated. Have goals and get off your ass and do what is necessary to achieve them. Develop SELF-AWARENESS and actually think about the things you say and do. Take responsibility for your life. Have a sense of humor. Realize that yes, sex is a wonderful and healthy part of life, but it's not everything, so get over the perv shit. Get outside yourself and don't be a shallow, self-absorbed asshole. Don't live your life wrapped around your stupid cell phone and pathetic "social medias". Don't be annoying. Have something intelligent and interesting to talk about. Mind your own business. Have at least one constructive hobby. Shut your mouth and open your eyes and ears. Do something to better this world. Basically, DON'T BE A DOUCHEBAG!!!! Read, "The View from a One-Man World" by J.S. Buckingham!....All that being said.... One of many things I can't stand is when people come into these chat rooms and say they're bored. NO SHIT!!! We're all bored!! If we weren't bored, we wouldn't be wasting time in these rooms! If we had something better to do we'd be doing it, wouldn't we? That being said, let's see.....I was born and raised in Michigan, the youngest of 11 kids. An attractive older woman stopped me and asked if I knew anything about working on floors. Now, normally I would have given a straight, respectful reply, but I was just in one of those moods and I said, " Well, ma'am, I don't know what kind of floor you are interested in, and I am certainly no contractor, but I would be more than happy to come over and install some hardwood." I expected to be slapped, but that didn't happen. She actually thought my comment was funny.....Long story short, not only am I going to look at her floor this weekend, but she is also cooking me dinner! I guess the moral of the story is that every once in a while it can pay off to be a wise ass...... It has been far too long and I hope you are all well! The prompt says to share something, so I will. There's something about a Sunday that makes me feel like telling a story....those of you who know me also know the whole Heather story and I'm sure you may be tired of hearing about it, but I'm going to tell one more story and then I'll stop. The only reason that I feel it is necessary to tell this story is because I believe that if a person is "lucky" (if you believe in luck), you have maybe one good shot at Real Love. Heather was my one shot. Anyway, here's the story: It was the Friday after Thanksgiving. I had rented a log cabin on the other side of the state. It seemed like a good idea to get out of town for a little vacation, especially after being around our families! The sun was popping in and out of the sky, but it was more or less a cold, grey Michigan day. I was driving and Heather was riding shotgun. She was eating pretzels and working a crossword puzzle. ELO was on the radio. Being the holiday, there wasn't much traffic, so it was just the radio and the rhythm of the tires on the highway. Suddenly out of nowhere (as she was good at doing), she looked at me and said, " What's the craziest thing you ever did?" I glanced over at her and she was sitting there casually munching a pretzel and peering at me over the top of her sunglasses. The sun was shining through her hair and somehow in that fraction of a moment, I knew right then and there that I wanted to grow old with her and that maybe if I played my cards right she would be the mother of my children..... I thought for a moment and said, "Well, my friends and I climbed a new radio tower they had put in town and we all tied our socks around the top poles and painted our initials." She looked disappointed. I replied with the same question to her. She said that she and some of her friends had egged and toilet papered the car of her school's principal. The discussion basically turned into her telling me that I was repressed and I didn't know how to cut loose. Long story shortened, I convinced her that she was the repressed one, and I got her to take off her clothes from the waist down. So, we drove the rest of the way across the state with her pants and undergarments on my dashboard. Within the next year, the universe saw fit to have a drunk driver take her away from me. I know...not one of my best stories, but one of my many favorite memories of her, and to this day when I hear ELO"s "Can't get it out of my head", it seems bizarrely appropriate. The point is, people like to say that "time heals all wounds". Well, it doesn't. What happens when you get a wound? A scar forms; the wound never really heals. That scar is a reminder of the original wound. Anyway, that's my Sunday story and I apologize if it is boring or upsetting to anyone. Ya know I shoud be in counseling, right? LOL...this is what makes people like me write books.....have a good day, all.....
