SleepAwake: omg i love topshop i wish i could afford anything there! i tried on so many cosmic shirts and leather short shorts hahaha Bijou: Topshop is not that pricey! And their stuff is manufactured in more ethical environments than many other chain retailers, so I'm happy to pay a little more.  Rory84: Topshop is cheap as fuck. Topman is expensive AND they only make clothes for skinny indie kids. So FUCK Topshop! And those diagonal floorboards are whack too! Bijou, you look really lovely. X x x
SleepAwake: its pricy for me. i shop at salvation army. i dont usually buy anything over 10-20 dollars because alas im a starving artist haha...maybe one day i will be able to afford "new" clothes. Rory84: Here in Blighty it is expensive, places like H&M are a bit cheaper. I too buy most of my clothes in charity shops. Bijou: No way, used clothing is the best way. The most ethical way to shop for sure. I need to get back into the habit but the Value Village I used to frequent sucks now and I can't find a salvation army near me that actually has decent stuff... I try not to shop at H&M anymore. I just don't feel right about it. If you're paying that little for garments (unless of course they're used) then somewhere in the world, someone has endured terrible working environments for mere pennies just so you can have a new sweater that you probably don't need that much anyway. I admit I've bought a tonne of stuff there in the past, but I guess it was one of my resolutions to stop shopping there or anywhere where the prices are so cheap that the manufacturing conditions should clearly be drawn into question. Anyway... second hand is obvi the best. ImpulsiveSausage: Second hand stores are overrun now.... You have to go early morning to find good stuff in toronto nowadays... Sometimes you'll luck out and find something pretty cool  Sajuco: I look forward to the day when I find a super original piece of clothing at a second hand store, buy it, wear it... Walk down the street, meet the person who previously owned it, laugh about it for a bit, go out for tea, tea turns into going to the park, park turns into crinkling noses & curling toes, and making a new BFF4Lyfe. That. Would. Be. Awesome. Or lame... But mostly awesome. Bijou: I think that sounds like a pretty great encounter. I've found plenty of incredible things at thrift shops!! For examples, the blazer in the pic above. Not to mention an Aquascutum blazer, a Bill Blass hat, some Rockports, countless pairs of classic leather shoes, purses I use every day, the list goes on. |
