attydallas3: Yep .. and being that 50% of Americans (and 1/3 of Texans) are still not vaccinated (and 1/3 of Americans say they will never be) IMHO they're playing with fire. In fact, there was even an article on just that today in a major newspaper. But if so, so be it .. apparently it's an "economy/money" thing and balancing of the different "interests" (personal and of society) at stake ... The CDC is the one that led the charge to take off masks last week .. The head of the agency was on Meet the Press this weekend explaining their actions, in light of the risks .. &:-) Paul
attydallas3: Good idea, Oddie, esp. since it seems more and more "fully vaccinated" people are coming down with the virus, nevertheless .. Quite "odd" (as you know - hehehe) ..
attydallas3: In fact, saw in the news today the Dept. of State is telling people not to travel to Japan for the Olympics, even if they are "fully vaccinated" ... &:-) Paul
karlsnextsn: I got my 2nd Pfizer vaccine about 6 weeks ago and I still haven't grown horns. This having been said, I do feel free of the serious risk that people who are not vaccinated are taking by not masking up. I wish ALL Americans would wise up!
karlsnextsn: PS: I do not feel the need to wear a mask except where it's legally required. Moreover, 70% of people in my state have already received at least 1 of their 1 shots.
attydallas3: Good job, karlmarx .. Yes, I saw in the news they said the NE states had the highest vaccination rates while the lowest were the states in the SE .. &:-) Paul
Smitten_Kitten_: I went the other day to Kroger and it had a sign saying you don’t have to wear a mask if you are vaccinated. Which of course my best friend are so we took off our mask. But like I believe Red stated, people who aren’t vaccinated will go without one. Or something like that. Sorry red if I got it twisted. However, there are still people not wearing one. Some haven’t worn one since we were told to. Or they will go in a store wearing it, then take it off. Personally, I don’t mind wearing it. I may still wear one, not just because of Covid or places tell you to, but because I don’t want to get another TB infection and go through that hell again.
Sangria_: I don’t get upset anymore about people who don’t want to get vaccinated. I’m vaccinated and if I (or anyone else that’s vaccinated) worry about the unvaccinated then the vaccine isn’t working!!~~
attydallas3 in reply to Smitten_Kitten_: GEEZ, BB*** u really did get TB? I thought that disease was pretty much "extinct" anymore .. I grew up next to a hospital that was the state sanitorium (where people went who had TB to get over it - or pass away) but many years later it was turned into a hospital for all kinds of "chest" disorders, presumably b/c "TB was no more" ... ? &:-) Paul
attydallas3 in reply to Sangria_: Exactly, Sangrita*** .. If a person doesn't want to risk it, they can get vaccinated .. That way they won't get it (ostensibly), while those who want to risk it can take that risk and chance it, if they so choose. I don't understand why that seems to be so hard for vaccers to understand. &:-) Paul
Smitten_Kitten_ in reply to attydallas3: Yes Paul I did. When I went to volunteer for hospice, I had to have blood work done. The director called me back and asked if I ever tested positive for Tb and I said no. She told me to call my doctor immediately. I did and had to have an X-ray done. Then sent to a lung specialist. Which, Harris county picked it up because things like that are automatically sent to the state. I had to go to a TB clinic. It was just the infection I had. For close to 6 months I had to take 8 pills every week. Then every two weeks because my platelets kept dropping. I had to make a video for them to see that I was taking them. I had to show them each pill and had to have a clear glass of water that they could see. If it wasn’t for Covid, they would have came to my house to watch me do it. I was like you, I thought TB was gone but it’s not. I forget how many cases in Harris County were listed. Thank God I wasn’t contiguous. But I told someone, if this mask gets lifted, I’m still wearing one. Because no one ever thinks to get a Tb test when they are getting a physical or just blood work done. So now if a place asks me to do a TB blood test, I can’t because I have that gene. But I don’t have the infection anymore. But I have to have an X-ray done. Sorry for talking so much about it.
RnKris84: My Dad tests positive for TB every time he is tested. He obviously came in contact with someone that had the infection. Maybe as a child or as a teen. Beautifully Broken, thank you for sharing your story. It is beautifully written and heartfelt. It is important for others to see that this, indeed, can happen. You are smart to continue wearing your mask. I am not changing my protocols either. Do what works for you. I wish everyone well and please... get vaccinated. We can do this! - Kristine
Smitten_Kitten_ in reply to RnKris84: Thank you for your kind words. Having a TB infection once, will always show up on blood work, well if they are doing a TB test. I was told by a nurse who also had the TB infection, that if someone ever wants to do to a TB test by checking their blood, tell them I’m already TB positive but I don’t have the infection anymore, but that I have to do an x ray to prove that I’m clean of the infection. Sorry to hear that about your dad. Have a great day Kristine.
attydallas3: Wow, I never knew that about TB, BB .. So how do they test someone who has had TB before to see if they have it "active" again in their system in the future? &:-) Paul
