attydallas3: "The Man Who Shot Himself" - Intriguing-but-somewhat- straightforward ballad of Tom T. Hall that came out while I was a D.J. at a C & W radio station. I played it a lot at night, until the program director told me to not do so anymore, as it was such a "downer" of a tune. Always wondered whether it was a true story about someone Hall knew, or just some fanciful songwriting on his part.

jojomcx09: apparently his faith in Jesus or Christ wasn't as strong as the hold the satan had on his life, because it is only satan who can convince any man to kill himself. maybe if he had spent more time praying to God instead of shooting driftwood his life would have meant more to him.

attydallas3: I've asked many a preacher to show me specifically where in the Bible suicide is named as a sin .. They always dance around the issue, but admittedly can't .. It ain't in there - despite what folks may think about it .. What about the person who is suffering through a horribly incurable disease that is keeping them in great pain and anguish? Would the Almighty want them to continue to suffer through to their "natural" end while in such a state? &:-) Paul

"The Year That Clayton Delaney Died":
