Asiababe: Just had a lovely phonecall from head of my nursing school: Going to hospital tomorrow to get drain into my lung and when I am home on monday I should email school what my Dr says. School want to give me compassionate pass so I can finish 2 papers next year then do final clinical placement on the wards and graduate early next year. Don't need to drop out just yet
Sir Loin: I'm taking her into hospital today. Hopefully they get this pleural effusion sorted out this time. Currently x-rays show half a lung is gone, hidden behind a mass of fluid. This will be drained off, apparently the 800ml last time was only part of it. Then we can work to get her back into nursing school. Head of the school told me they definitely want her back and have to go by the book so there will be plenty of paperwork.
Asiababe: Home again, lab unable to grow culture from this fluid so must go to Wellington for thoracic surgeon to take a biopsy from that lung, they will be able to make proper diagnosis from that. SCARY!
chummel0001: Well you will need a cat scan and or mri to look for cause of fluid build up and to verify any abnormal growth before he could biopsy anything.many prayers ill add for you
chummel0001: Cat scan,mri,biopsy...none are that unpleasent...the biopsy hurt breifly when i had one and on occation still have phantom pain there...5 yrs cured survivor....
