Just here to talk shit
Aaron_quAarontine: We're having a 2nd grade graduation ceremony jubilee hoopla gala extravaganza celebration for our wee little baby daughter Sophia... Below is the text of the commencement address I wrote to kick off the shindig.
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to recognize, and honor, and celebrate the graduating class of 2020. Oakview Elementary school, 2nd grade. *dramatic pause* I'll keep my comments brief because today's focus should be not on me, but on these brilliant young people. The people upon whom we depend to lead us into the future.
*another dramatic pause*
The class of 2020 faces exceptional challenges in today's world. And with exceptional challenge comes an exceptional opportunity! The opportunity to become tomorrow's world leaders. The opportunity to create the world previous generations have tried, but failed to create. Go forth, class of 2020! Create the world you want! Create the world you need! *one more dramatic pause* Create the world you deserve!
Aaron_quAarontine: Me and my wee little 8 year old daughter Sophia were in the car and we've been talking about floods lately because of the torrential rain we've had. So I drove into a random neighborhood near the lake to show her a spot where a creek often floods the road. Turns out, the road was closed and the whole area looked like a pond. There was a boy and his dog playing in the water, so I let Sophia get out there and join them. A few minutes later the local news camera crew showed up and did a live segment talking about flooding in our city. So Sophia and 2 other kids and an 80 pound Rottweiler were on the news playing in the water, drenched from head to toe and having a great time. They spent an hour doing it while I watched and laughed and strategically pointed out where the kids needed to be to make sure they got on camera.
Aaron_quAarontine: Here's what Urban dictionary has to say about a guy named Aaron...
A hardworking dude with a great sense of humor. Best known for finishing jobs with pizzazz and pride, breaking tension with jokes and puns, and communicating with astuteness and heart. Aaron also is a master of hospitality, knowing how to make people feel welcome.
Some people see Aaron as cynical and jaded, and--to be fair--sometimes he is that. But under the surface is a beating heart that hopes and dreams, that sees beauty and light and feels deeply. Quick of wit and perception, Aaron is fun to talk with, and someone who provides thoughtful and stimulating conversation.
Most of all, Aaron means someone who knows how to act according to his code of honor. He may not always voice his thoughts, but what he does say, he says because he thinks it right or funny, not to people please. He is a giver of compliments at times--not as a means of sucking up--but for the sake of making other people feel good. He is a warrior of heart, and acts from his heart.
When life throws rough punches his way, he holds his footing, and keeps on going. He is loyal. One thing that holds him back is that he's been hurt and abandoned, and he struggles with trust and self-worth. But he is far more valuable than the finest precious metals or gemstones. One day he will realize his value and will know and receive the love and loyalty he has been craving. Til then, he suffers, believing the lies that he's not worth the effort and that he will always be alone and rejected.
"If more people had heart, humor and hospitality like Aaron, the world would be a far better place."
