If you met him at lunch, you wouldn't know if he
...taught kindergarten
......played a guitar, or was rebuilding an old
.....Jeep.
You wouldn't know if he were rich or poor, a bank clerk
...or its president.
.....A weekend refugee from a funny farm or a
.....successful inventor of video games.
He's curious about everything from gliders to
...daffodils,
...Wonders about sourdough bread and
....the difference between good kings and bad
......presidents.
He likes books, movies, music, basketball, pelicans,
...trout fishing, parrots, loose women, and gin.
He is fascinated with dinosaurs, bats, turtles,
...sailboats,
...Swans, covered bridges, crossword puzzles, and ciphers
I don't know anyone he doesn't like, any food
...he doesn't eat,
...Any game he doesn't play, chess withstanding.
.....Any animal he doesn't love.
He laughs at everything, especially at himself, cries
...at funerals
...And sad movies, and remembers special occasions like
.....my aunt Betty's birthday.
...He celebrates weddings, promotions, sunny days,
...The first robin, the last goose, victories, defeats
.....and rainbows.
And is the only guy I know who never graduated from
.....childhood.
