Lying to my boss so he'll leave me alone

electronic101: I've been working part-time in a print shop for a few months now. The shop is busier and the boss wants me to come work full-time soon.

My problem is that the boss is harder on me than the other employees in the shop because I went to school to study printing and he wants me to succeed in the field. I'm starting to get very annoyed and bothered by this and don't want to think about my future career right now. I just want to work to acceptable standards at this one company.

I'm planning on I'm going to tell him that I'll continue working here because I like the new challenges, but I will not be staying in the printing field. I'll tell him that I've been thinking about it for the last few weeks and have other plans in mind for my future.

I want to tell him this in the upcoming week to see how it changes how he works with me, but I don't want to just blurt it out of nowhere. When do you think I should tell him?

Do you guys think it can get me fired? Other employees in the shop who do different kinds of printing are not in the printing field or went to school for it.

You have nothing to lose by telling your boss how you feel. At the very least you'll feel a lot better within yourself for doing so.

Being honest with my boss, he'll probably give me a lecture but at most I was honest with him and didn't pretend. Honesty is definitely the best policy when being on the job. And knowing the boss can trust me to do the job would mean more to me.
