Delete Inactive Accounts? (Page 2)

Geoff
Geoff: I think that those with little to no activity are likely to be those that are least likely to return. Sign up, chat once or twice, disappear forevermore.

The sheer number would mean cleaning them up would be helpful from a technical point of view.

calybonos: As a member who just wants to be part of the gang and sit at the cool table...

( Even a small part. I'd sit at the back and not be a bother. Just give me a chance! )

I tried to understand why inactive accounts would effect me...really, I did!
But, as Wireclub is not my property, nor my responsibility in the way it is operated, this whole topic seems to be as valid as a case of an insane asylum's patients holding a share holders meeting over which color Jello should be served at this year's annual Drooler's Dance.

Don't get me wrong, though. I'll still vote in favor of the cool table's decision.

( Did I mention that I will bring donuts? )

Secret Mastermind: @Navylady that is assuming all the accounts are abandoned and the person is just not away at work. For example someone can leave for work where they will be out for a long while and want to come back after. Why are we going to tell people they MUST be here every day? I mean people have lives dont they? Are they expected to drop it to be on this website.

calybonos: Isn't giving up your life a prerequisite for joining Wireclub?

I'm sure I read something about that in the terms of service agreement.

Secret Mastermind: @lady

Military service
Jobcorpse
Americorps
Cop training

You know training programs like that.

Lady if your friends leave you that easily they are probably not the best friends in the world. You might not know the greatest people but that isnt our fault. Also a lot of people are on this website very frequently and this is a way for them to socialize. You might not care about any of the people here but a lot of people have actually found friends and partners on here. Wire is by no means a dating site but that does not mean people dont care about anyone here.

Secret Mastermind
Secret Mastermind: XOX No I dont have many inactive accounts? Do you mean the accounts I talk to? I talk to a lot of people and sometimes some of them are gone for a few months and come back. I do still talk to them when they return. I am not hanging on accounts waiting obsessively posting them hoping they come back. I do know military on here who are gone for months at a time. I dont keep saying "Lets shut down this persons account since he was at work"! For some of these people who suddenly up and disappear we do start to wonder where they went sometimes and we didn't suddenly forget them when they left.

Navy I dont think its really reasonable to be at a job and say "I need to computer since you just have to get on wire". They are probably going to think your being an idiot and to get back to work. As well you kind of ignored my other examples I posted as well.
