Staying Home but Online Travel AretoNyx: When I was young I had ability to travel with groups some places. Girl Scouts was the first time I visited an ocean beach and never have since then. I have traveled to Europe when in the USAF ( particularly Germany). Though I have been to close by other states because of some family vacations I do not have any money to afford to travel now. So virtually traveling and chatting with others world wide is as close as I can get to travel , and likely will never be able to afford otherwise in the future. I never was able to travel much in my circumstances and financial abilities. I live in Ohio, and even travel around the city I live is not a common thing. It is most likely however that I would just travel within Dayton or not far from the state of Ohio. There is still much one can do close to home. Does anyone one else like to travel close to home, or virtual traveling world wide? What are some favorite places for traveling any where?  The giant midget: Traveling abroad is expensive European vacations are cheap if you have a residence there , basically airfare is about 900 USA round trip , food and drinks are reasonable enough except the fast food crap like Macdonalds KFC or other shit like them , ( I heard that the local governments there imposes enormous taxes and restrictions on fast food chains so they don't open outlets ) . I have traveled throughout Europe a few times , I been to the UK once and I will never go there again ( if I am to be amongst English speaking rude snobbish people I could have stayed at home . ) With this pandemic people are restricted traveling abroad and are forced to stay local It's nice to explore your own backyard, drive 8 hours ,stay a couple of days Train traveling is a big thing now , it's cheap ,it's fast , I did the train thing some years ago ,the scenery is spectacular during the day , I would get off the train early evening enjoy the local cuisine and the attractions stay overnight than ride out on a train early next morning AretoNyx: I traveled out of country before because of military deployment in peacetime. Traveling is not something I can afford but I get why many do it. Good memories I hope. The giant midget: Lately due to the pandemic and the lockdowns of the Canada /USA borders , my fellow Canadians that would venture into the USA for pleasure weekend trips are traveling within our provinces ( states ) instead, exploring the beauty and culture that our own nation has to offer , they are now appreciating "" the stay at vacation "" I am Canadian born with dual citizenship status I have traveled throughout the USA for many years , gee I was even baptized in the USA , I went to university in Boston , I have family and a shit load of friends there , I travel mostly into the states to Golf but again due the border crossing closures I have found amazing golf courses just around the corner from me ,that I never knew that they existed , it has brought new ways of planning my outings Instead of taking a week off and travel to the states for my pleasure I now take the Friday off and make it a long weekend and travel somewhat local but still a 10 hour drive. It's cheaper and more enjoyable than travel to Europe and the USA AretoNyx: With all the people that do not wash hands and are annoying in the US best stay away cold, flu, and measles seasons. There is some travels allowed here by citizens state to state of some states. Also truckers and such can go of course. I can understand why that would be more enjoyable. No place like home either.  Islandeyes: As a retired travel agent wit a few health issues it has been a while since I have been abroad BUT I AM RETIRED back home in JAMAICA after over 40 years living all over the United States. I can see the cruise ships coming into Ocho Rios Jamaica. I am happy just to go to a lovely hotel at the other end of the island. AretoNyx: I can not afford that kind of travel so I do a staycation.
