What's Los Angeles like?

Irinami: I'm thinking of moving to LA from South Africa to further my music career because there's nothing going on here and I'm wasting my years and talent not getting anywhere.

If you are able to give me information about the music scene, the life, the work opportunities, etc, I'd be very grateful.

sapsdusa: Hi Irmani, I used to live in the Los Angeles Area about 10 years ago and now living in New York. But, I am pretty well versed with Los Angeles as I travel there frequently for business and vacation. If you are planning on making a move from South Africa, it will be very similar landscape to Cape Town (my favorite city in SA). Weather is great, beaches are nice, plenty of outdoors. Its a very diverse place as there are all sorts of nationalities there. I don't know much about music scene there but the life is good. Plenty to keep you happy and busy. Lots to explore outdoors as weather is good throughout the year. I recommend you to first visit there before making a permanent move. Since you mentioned music as a career, there are some other cities you may also want to consider such as Nashville (country music), New Orleans (Jazz Music), Austin (Live Bands) and Memphis (Rock n Roll). Ofcourse LA is big into movies, arts, music, etc.
