Hyperloop Mania

Metaverseguy
Metaverseguy: Tesla and friends have fueled lots of speculation about the new hyperloop idea to reduce travel time by half or more. I've seen lots of recent articles about this technology and idea. Basically what it boils down to is they want to put it in key locations that people travel to. For example, "you could go from Cincinnati to India in 3 hours for less than $50". (currently it takes about 20 hours via plane). They would theoretically using boring tunnels, similar to what's done in the English channel to get from England to France except with speeds from 700-4,000 mph).

The funny thing is the hype about this thing is insane. And the numbers seem outrageous. New state-of-the-art technology AND cheaper than current tech?? The tesla electric car currently costs $70K to purchase compared to $10-20k for the avg automobile cost. So how are they going to dig all these holes and pay all the engineers with less capital? They are probably either lying to investors who are equally insane and drunk from the idea of fast transport or giving us figures of what it will EVENTUALLY cost in 100 years. The only way they can pay everyone to build this is if they initially charge 10x or more for the first passengers.
