best Mac osx for metered/bandwidth capped plans

lostnthenight
lostnthenight: I recently sold my MacBook pro newer one which had Yosemite because it sucked the bandwidth like crazy, regardless of what programs I used to limited the bandwidth. So, I heard that the older Mac osx were best for capped bandwidth plans. For example I've avg like 50MB a day on a win 8.1 laptop. Doing the same things on my mac, I used 154MB in a 4hr period. Looking for advice on which of the older Mac osx is best.

JUST an IT GUY: actually it could be ur provider .and/or the ports you have set open..just like windows..so lets say a firewall on a router or in your os u can set the ports to close off ..not unlike a shipping lane.
all this doesn't matter if the IP provider doesn't give you the speed you are paying for. speedtest.net.

lostnthenight: Monitoring the bandwidth a apple.com was using the majority of the bandwidth. After researching the addy I found that Yosemite and up records everything you do and sends it to a apple server, which explains the huge amount of bandwidth being used.

JUST an IT GUY: I would suggest leaving apple-mac osx aka closed source Linux, .. and going open source Linux aka open BSD or like name open source Linux like pclinux os or ubuntu studio.. it has a lot of programs installed without worrying do i need to install anything else.
good luck
