Space Elevator (The Epic Tower) (Page 6) Zereous Excentris: allright here we go.. It has 6 contact points of magnets on the ground and there are 2 contact points next to each other and it forms a tripod so 3 points of 2 contacts each One point of Tripod contact would be like this 0------------------------------------------------------------------0.. and it would form a Y as it reaches to the sky an Upside down Y the magnets do what they do you know how that works it focuses the weight down to the base magnets Well.. it makes nothing hevier or lighter.. Damn it its the only damn way to explain it.. The Electromagnetisem ligthens the tower and makes the base magnets heavier.. how else do you explain that shit (Edited by Zereous Excentris) (Post deleted by Zereous Excentris ) Zereous Excentris: THIS thing.. is a bunch of rods beams and magnets and what do the magnets do if you formulate it right? it takes away Pressure though electromagnetism! Zereous Excentris: Corvin dont give up on me.. I love slapping this idea around with you.. Damn it.. even though it agitates us hehe... Arghhh Corwin: You said: "the magnets do what they do you know how that works it focuses the weight down to the base magnets " "Electromagnetisem ligthens the tower and makes the base magnets heavier.. how else do you explain that shit" Do you know why you're having trouble explaining it? Because it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I can't fathom how you ever got it into your head that magnets had strange magical properties such as this. Magnets are just magnets... it won't make the slightest difference whether or not the feet of your tripod are in contact with the ground, or in contact with magnets that are in contact with the ground. THE MAGNETS ARE DOING NOTHING. -------------------------- The second problem is that a 23 mile high tower would be utterly pointless. Sure, it gets you above most of the atmosphere and saves you wind resistance, but gets you no closer to hurling your payloads to the 17,500mph necessary to achieve escape velocity and achieve orbit... that's how most of the fuel is spent. Building a 23 mile high tower to save a bit of rocket fuel seems a bit impractical. And whatever rocket fuel you're saving, keep in mind that you have to haul a giant rocket up 23 miles in an elevator... I'm not so sure that would be easier than simply launching from the ground. (Edited by Corwin) Zereous Excentris: the magnets are repelling each other to hold the tower straight and allow it to be constructed higher.. Zereous Excentris: Corvin.. It is not ok to launch a rocket up to space when you can lift up a "LARGER" Package Corwin: Who CARES how you ignite the fuel?? My question is, if something is too big to launch from the surface, what makes you think you'd have a better chance launching it from 23 miles up above the atmosphere? You STILL have to propel that mass to 17,500 mph to achieve escape velocity and overcome the Earth's gravitational pull. 23 miles will NOT change that. Zereous Excentris: Go do some research on Youtube about space elevators and find out the advantages of having one! Corwin: I understand the advantages of Space Elevators... I've been reading about the idea before you were born. The problem here is that you don't understand the concept of how they are supposed to work. Corwin: NO.... IT DOESN'T. YOURS DOES NOT WORK. Hell... even Arthur C. Clarke's ideas only worked theoretically, and they involved materials and technology that didn't exist yet, and haven't even been conceived of. Zereous Excentris: What does not work about my space elevator? The Electromagnetic Support structure works perfectly fine.. It can reach high enough.. It can even Railgun stuff into orbit Corwin: Seriously Zereon?? It would take me a lengthy essay, just to begin to help you understand the concept here... I am not the one who doesn't understand. Perhaps we should take this to PM before you embarrass yourself? Your elementary Science education should not be a public show. (Edited by Corwin) Corwin: Zereon... do you know who Arthur C. Clarke is? Let's take this private... you need to start from the beginning. Zereous Excentris: Heh.. I dont think I will be Embarrassed.. It works sure there are some little flaws.. Scientists can solve those Imagine this one even though it has the flaw of keeping the magnets aligned You stack 100 Magnets and they are pressed together with a package ontop.. The Magnets polls are not Opposite facing Each other they are North to North polls and south to south.. You turn on the Electricity and ZING of to space it goes.. You can assemble the base magnet really really High by making magnetic slabs and sticking them together and Fussing them and that is Solid Steel reaching high right there And then You Use Magnet Electromagnetic Support Structuring and POP Easy Same Conecept of stacking magnets Poll against poll North to North and South to South and these magnets keep pressing upwords | Technology Chat Room Similar Conversations |
