Corwin: Money and wealth will be a tough one to shed... I know that in the Star Trek universe they eliminated monetary things... but just like how Marxist Communism failed, how do we give the average guy incentive to work his hardest without some kind of personal reward?
Money in some form or other has been around since the stone age... it was a natural progression from the "barter" system.
Zereous Excentris: Energy can be a New money system with Mass Involved like Medical stuff or Resources to build Technology.. But I like Privileges over time and we just do to do it to improve humanity.. and we Earn Privileges... Like eventually the ability to get married or... to be able to play a game after gaining a certain amount of points and the points get you things like special commanders and are race points and its a special game between people and all kinds of things...
I have a book you can read in my blog
Zereous Excentris: Or Privileges such as access to certain items aswell as what is mentioned above...
Corwin: I'm reminded of back in the Apollo days... the whole country, even the whole world wanted to see a man walk on the moon... for a short while there, money didn't matter... it was time to walk on the Moon, and we just did it... whatever it took... even the guy sweeping the floor at NASA felt like a part of something big and important. And I bet he would have worked extra hours for free if it meant helping to achieve that goal.
We were on to something back then... on July 20 1969, when Armstrong voiced those word "One small step for a Man, one giant leap for Mankind" the whole word was briefly united.
We have to find a way to get back to that... we were on to something.
Zereous Excentris: Now Imagine that "for a short while there, money didn't matter."...
Right there is something..
Privileges... Are awesome and they wold motivate me to work any day.. and Everyone wants to get married... Now its kind of interesting how that works.. Money is access to Privilege anyways.. The Privilege to own this or that or to get a License saying you are now eligible to be wed and then Children and such and all kinds of everything else can be places on this system... There is motivation in that.. and no longer corporation steals ideas or the rich get richer or whatever else
Zereous Excentris: Everybody would be equal..and Privileges can even go away if you decide to lax it out.. to much anyways..
Corwin: Think of this... people whine and gripe about money spent in the space program as being a "waste"... we don't have the "public will" anymore to do great things.
They spend trillions with their war machines and nobody bats an eye... but they spend 100 million (a drop in the bucket) on a new space probe and people cry about wasting money.
Did you know that the Voyager program back in the last century, that explored all the outer planets and brought us those wonderful first close-ups of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, and so many of their moons.... cost American tax payers about 25 cents per person per year?
Like WTF... that wasn't worth 25 cents?? What's wrong with people?
I pay tons of taxes now, and all I get are roads and snow removal in the Winter... I'd spend half of everything I make and live in a shit hole if that meant that Humanity would finally strive for great things, and that that money was going towards that.... nevermind 25 lousy cents.
Zereous Excentris: Corvin We need to get rid of money some how.. it has been around so long it was useful back then but I rather like the Privilege system more because people wont get greedy and steal peoples ideas and inventions and progress will be paramount and.. its just more intelligent..
Corwin: You're not alone there with that idea... it's something Humanity should strive for... time will tell.
I doubt that you or I will live long enough to see such a utopia unfold... but I have high hopes for us.
Interestingly enough, your idea there about a political system of "equality" and "privilege" reminds me a lot of what Carl Marx proposed with his original ideas about Communism.
It was a great idea on paper... it should have been a utopia... but the problem was that us primitive Humans had to be a part of the plan... and it quickly degraded into a military dictatorship.
Corwin: Winston Churchill said, "Democracy is the worst possible system of government... except for all the others."
Zereous Excentris: Now corvin why is it not turning into a military dictatorship now... Why would this system turn into a military dictatorship?
Corwin: It pretty much IS a military dictatorship... the "Free World" I mean.
They've created this illusion of "freedom" and the illusion that people have a say... but it's merely an illusion. "Might is right"... it's still the guy with the biggest stick that rules the land.
We're still merely clever Apes. Humanity has a long way to go before we are truly "civilized".
Zereous Excentris: why would god create me and put me on this earth if I am to fail in my ultimate goal
Corwin: Never give up... fight the good fight... we will never reach the utopia that we envision if we all give up.
Corwin: I think I may have hit on the crux of it right there... the "fight"... this is Darwinian Evolution at play... life is always a struggle, the survival of the fittest... let's just hope that the "fittest" will end up to be the enlightened ones and the visionaries... not the war mongers and profiteers.
Zereous Excentris: Well I have nothing better to spend my Life on anyways.. And if i can actualy get out to space and find her..
We need to implement these technologies somehow.. We need to get rid of the patent office and use the technology inside to improve earth somehow and this damn money problem needs to be tossed aside and Destroyed
Corwin: It's being fought... even now... but it's like a movie, and we are all members of the cast - all 7 billion of us... but there isn't a script... we're all just winging it and ad-libbing our lines and roles.
If nothing else, it's one hell of a toboggan ride.
