Which OS (Operating Systeym) do you think is best (Page 4) thoughtisgrowth: windows 7 is the best user friendly and as for hacking xp is the best and as for speed and little space needed for memory linux is best. so none are all around perfect. martintavarezs: It is not an easy question to answer. It all depends on what you're after. If you're just a user, you are happy by pressing "yes"/"no" and "next" every time you are prompted to, then any Windows version is OK. If you want to go any deeper into computing and want to customize everything, then choose Unix-based OS. Despite being for -and feeling comfortable with- open-source operating systems (Unix offspring, i.e. Ubuntu, Debian, et alia), I decided to keep both. XWhiteandBlue: I'd love to build a Ubuntu Machine... but don't ahve the visual basic/ C++ chops to keep it running smoothly. I Love Android for my mobile devices though. Still, I'll keep Microsoft at home as I feel the tyrany of iTunes and evrything else that Apple's golden cage bringsis not worth the entrapment into their monopol (nice as that monopoly may be) Lostconfession: just unlocked scorpius on my new build, what OS should i go to? 8Gb 1600Mhz Ram. 8core AM3+ and Radeon HD 6series Gfx
the real slim DEEPy: im angry that microsoft dropped support for windows 98, you couldnt use it on a multi core machine, but i would love to use it on say, a pentium 4 3.6 ghz with 3 gigs of ram, and have service packs to patch security vulnerabilities. i had the best stability with win98se. lostnthenight: Best operating system ever was windows 2000 advanced server, most stable os, and fastest, xp was built off of windows 2000 tech. grãve: windows vista because, it's easy to operate, however it is heavy, but if you have a potent computer, there isn't problems ben2fly: windows 7 is great, windows XP is second best, Ye Olde Faithful for you, and windows 98 is third, all the power horses, but i like Linux becuase it's free, and there is SO MANY VERSIONS! Farrah_: haven't try windows 8. so far I used linux to run bio programs, mac for graphical simulations and windows for developing a system. but now I use windows 7 for all purpose. bredmond65: I use several , i have a 7 box for games and work apps, but i have another running Xubuntu that i love dearly, one box just a tester for distros , as of now that one has Voyager , a French distro the real slim DEEPy: im prrety happy with vista/win 7. windows 8 seems inconvienient without access to a touchscreen, is less than asthetically pleasing- with a metro look more akin to an entertainment device than a versatile, all-business, power performer, oldskoolPunk: Its funny when people think android could compete on the same level as windows. Its also funny to see people bash windows | Technology Chat Room Similar Conversations |
