thoughtisgrowth: windows 7 is the best user friendly and as for hacking xp is the best and as for speed and little space needed for memory linux is best. so none are all around perfect.

martintavarezs: It is not an easy question to answer. It all depends on what you're after. If you're just a user, you are happy by pressing "yes"/"no" and "next" every time you are prompted to, then any Windows version is OK. If you want to go any deeper into computing and want to customize everything, then choose Unix-based OS. Despite being for -and feeling comfortable with- open-source operating systems (Unix offspring, i.e. Ubuntu, Debian, et alia), I decided to keep both.

XWhiteandBlue: I'd love to build a Ubuntu Machine... but don't ahve the visual basic/ C++ chops to keep it running smoothly. I Love Android for my mobile devices though. Still, I'll keep Microsoft at home as I feel the tyrany of iTunes and evrything else that Apple's golden cage bringsis not worth the entrapment into their monopol (nice as that monopoly may be)

the real slim DEEPy: im angry that microsoft dropped support for windows 98, you couldnt use it on a multi core machine, but i would love to use it on say, a pentium 4 3.6 ghz with 3 gigs of ram, and have service packs to patch security vulnerabilities. i had the best stability with win98se.

Farrah_: haven't try windows 8. so far I used linux to run bio programs, mac for graphical simulations and windows for developing a system. but now I use windows 7 for all purpose.

bredmond65: I use several , i have a 7 box for games and work apps, but i have another running Xubuntu that i love dearly, one box just a tester for distros , as of now that one has Voyager , a French distro
