Which OS (Operating Systeym) do you think is best (Page 3) lostnthenight: Windows 7 is a resource hog, windows xp is by far the best, windows 7 is nice if you have a high end machine.  the real slim DEEPy: windies 7 runs nice on a pentium 3 with 512megs of ram. vista was a resource hog, but nice if you had a high-end machine lostnthenight: Windows 7 is actually built off windows vista, they just tried to improve it, add things and renamed it. the real slim DEEPy: they took more away from vista to make 7, thats why 7 is faster. sure they added a few things, but they took away aq lot of behind the scenes processes and memory usage. and windoes 8 is built on windoes 7/vista with tiles instead of a start menu, big whoop. i think it woll work well for tablets, but i think its gonna be fail if you have a desktop, and especially without a touchscreen. boy, ms is terying to get their moneys worth out of vista development. 3 operating systems based on it, not counting server oses. (Post deleted by staff ) 01_IrishDude: I know there are a lot of haters on this but Apple's OSX Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion are the best and for one reason only... Microsoft build their OS to support just about every standard piece of hardware for a computer made by literally any company. Apple's OS is tailored to suit a specific set of hardware which naturally means the developers have more time to make it work smoothly, right and most importantly bug free. Its far more stable and productive and for someone who uses a computer seriously for part of their life be it music production, web design, graphic design etc its important to have a safe stable machine which isn't prone to crash or get infected by billions of viruses etc That is what apple done back in the 80's with the Apple II, they made sure it didnt work on generic hardware. They were asked to license it out to work with other machines and hardware hackers to mess around with but they wanted to deliver a smooth sleek user experience and the only way to do that is tie the hardware and software close together. Lostconfession: Well yes irish it true apple OSx is great but here the thing. When you over price a shitty i5 with 4gb RAM and 500Gb HDD with vision AMD gfx. to $2,000 and up.. Then thier cause as to why apple sucks 2grand for an outdated hardware is no justification when i can get the same specific hardware in an ACER Ieee laptop for $200. I will give apple a hand because yes thier OS is flaw less.. Runs unbelieveable fast, smoothest software ive ever felt in my life i ran application with no lag except for adobe photoshop it lags on any system just worst on apple then on a 6gb MS desktop. Also if it werent for the fact of thier price range in the "Steve job head up tim woods ass" I would be an apple fan with you and give better cause to why apple is amazing. Now as for hardware hacker not being able to hack apple; Here a question for you.. Why is apple selling Mcafee, Norton, AVAST security, Kespersky for $200 online and at apple store??? Your hardware can not be hacked You sure about that, Cause i found online over 2years back how to nevigate through proxy to airport and into the main hardware interjection. They clam because apple allows straight interjection of a hardware kernal into the OS, they were able to cause some battery damage because OSx include battery charge configuration and notification of when a cell might die and a good time to replace with another $600 6cell apple battery. Now again apple Os is flawless i have no issue i wish MS could take a chapter on steve job, work back with apple and do some ratical thinking that jobs was able to do. But price for hardware verses OS does not equal out. Maybe oneday when i have a 5number income ill buy an airbook use it and then think heavy about it before testing its limits and seeing if its truely is a remarkable system. But tell then Linux.. Btw all form of malware and rootkits are linux base O/1. The hardware is tied into the OS through CCS coding, its a straight injection of driver run specificly from the OS which is why its very specific to begin with thier is a very few and near selective hardware that are capable to run under Mac. MS uses third party (Dr, Watson) to intelize the driver for the hardware the thrid party was constructed in linux back when apple went its way and IBM became MS. Which is why MS is able to run verity of hardware in a frankstien like configuration. The bueaty of MS is not to have a single out standard of hardware but a complete list of hardware on the fly. Where as MAC its so specific to have it fail means the entire system to fail along with it. Also might i add cheap poorly constructed keyboard. I watched my friend wreck hers keyboard on her air while gaming on W.O.W. she can be quiet agressive none the less her MS laptop was able to keep up with her,  (Post deleted by staff ) Lostconfession: vista was to heavy for my laptop. I went down to xp then got Win7RTM and its been running awesome.  BeLeafs: I am still a huge fan of Windows XP. Currently I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I've been following news on Windows 8 and I have to say I am not impressed with what I have seen so far. I love linux and Mac OS X but it sucks neither have decent game support still.  Monica98: Don't know much about computers, but I love Windows 7.
