UFC Saturday night.....
~LoisLane~: Velasquez Vs Dos santos???? What do you think, who will take it?
I just dont know with this one...These 2 are pretty tough in their own right.....
franklin1950: ufc on spike allowed a lot of us access to mixed martial arts . giving an education and appreciation of all aspects of a fight . a fight that takes place on the mat can be just as entertaining as the stand up banging .
i hope this fight on fox [ and hopfully others fox fights to follow ] will broaden the fan base . a lot of new viewers may not understand the beauty of grappling and be turned off if that is were it happens .
i can't predict a winner . i hope they have a plan to fill the time if the outcome is determined in the first round.
it should be a exciting one .
~LoisLane~: Brazilian contender Junior dos Santos defeated Cain Velasquez in 1:04 of the first round to become the UFC heavyweight champion in front of a sell-out crowd at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
It was hyped as the most important fight in UFC history,(I dont know about that but....) and for the most part, the fight revitalized the UFC heavyweight division.
I am waiting for a video that I can put up....
franklin1950: the fox network contract is the " historical " content of this fight . opening the door to millions of new ufc viewers. legitimizing this combat [ blood ] sport that has been widely demonized by the media . how often do you see even boxing covered in the past decade or so ?
~LoisLane~: So what are you saying, is that a question ? When it said "UFC History" IMO I said (I dont know about that).....As In I think there have been better Meanful fights then this one...IMO...
Azimuth_Predator: I thought Velasquez would win cause he would dectate where the fight would take place. And at the end he would push the pace and cardio would be the winner. But, he got knocked out on the first round! Thats why MMA is so cool. Its unpredictable and its worth watching, learning and training.
Dos Antos earned it though, bravo Junior that over right hand was awesome!
Now Frank Mir is going to face and Win big Nog. I would like to see Frank facing Junior next year. I so want to see Mir take Dos Antos to the ground. But lets not forget Mir is also a beast at his stand up. Those knees of his are deadly(crop cop fight).
it would be cool to see Mir and Dos Antos bang it out.
franklin1950: the ufc will continue to put on many exciting matches . their partnership with fox many will be free to view . great news for fans .
i hope belitor settles in on spike tv . belitor seems a well organized company putting on good fights .
. i think we may have to wait untill 2013 if what i heard is correct.
Azimuth_Predator: I am afraid i dont live in the states, so i am not aware of whats going on with the networks. I usually watch the fights on live streaming via net or see them a day later on sites i search on. Cause lets not forget there is a 7-9 hour time dif on the other side of the Atlantic lol.
But i am aware about the fox deal
~LoisLane~: Im Sooooo Glad they brought the UFC to Canada....I wish it was a long time ago tho cuz I would have really liked to have seen a few fights Live.....
Azimuth_Predator: Are you going to UFC 140? The main event is awesome and the co main event is even more awesome lol
~LoisLane~: Im soooo sorry I missed the very first one with JSP...Man that would have been totally cool to see...Whos the Main in that one?
Azimuth_Predator: Main Event
Jon Jones vs Lyoto Machida
Stylistically, Machida is just right for Jon Jones due to his counter attacks and speed. Although Jones has unorthodox stand up this will be a challenge...unless he manages to get Machida to the ground. And thats sooooo hard to do. But Jones has that 84 inch reach.
CO Main Event
Antonio Nogueira vs Frank Mir 2
As for the Nogueira vs Mir i don"t see Nog as a challenge when it comes to stand up cause Mir has the Versatility standing up plus better Boxing than nog. As for the ground... it"s 50-50. As for who dictates where the fight is going to go? Mir has improved his wrestling drastically the past Year(we saw that in the Roy Nelson Fight). He also has Judo trips in his Arsenal now lol.
cant wait for this one!! What are your predictions?
(Edited by Azimuth_Predator)
~LoisLane~: Oh wow Machida eh nice. Nogueira is a big guy too so that should be good... You know I really do like Frank Mir. After all that leg stuff he came back and did really good....Even tho that last fight with Lesnar where he made Mirs face look like it went through a cheese grater.....I cant stand that big fat bully....It was nice to see Velasquez smash his face in hahaha.....
Azimuth_Predator: As for the the last Fight with Mir and Lesnar.
Lesnar had 55 pounds on Mir Plus Mir Made a Mistake underestimating Brock and he just held on that half guard instead of looking for a sweep. The rubber match is going to be Mir all the way cause he is now a 260 pound fit athlete and he is improving his skill by the day. So its going to be a totally dif fight.
I am glad that Mir lost that fight cause it made him more hungry.
~LoisLane~: Okay then lols.....
The fight with Mir and Nelson yes thats true and Mir dominated his ass in that one. All buddy did was lay on his back and try to out wait the bell while getting pounded on with elbows hahaha....
I really hate that he lost that fight to Lesnar. Just the cockyness of it all you know, but yes it pissed Mir off and I guess he trained like an SOB after that (even tho he trains hard anyway). Mir has improved his skills yes and on the ground it sometimes is anyones game. I think Nogueira is big but he will probably get his ass whipped lols...Should be a good one tho...Didnt he fight him before he fought lesnar the fat bully? I think he won that one too no? That was how many ago too eh.
So I think Mir is a good hard striker and he can dominate on the ground cuz he is also a big boy....
WOW Jones has a 84in reach....shizz man I still think Machida will take this one also...Unless Jones catches him which I dont think he will.....Machida has got this one....!
I miss a lot of the older guys from a few yrs ago........
You know who bugs the hell out of me now.......Well always lols, Josh Koscheck...(sp) MAN I really wanted him to get a beating. Hes just such a dink I cant even stand looking at him anymore.....
Azimuth_Predator: I only disagree with one thing you said. Its not anyones game on the ground. Depends on the fighter. If you are facing Dos Antos, Cro Cop, Cheick Kongo you want to go to the ground Asap. Mir Managed the last two standing up really well though. Even ko"d Cro Cop with a knee.
As for the Nog fight. Nog is a legit black belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mir is a strategic fighter so when i said its 50-50 on the ground i meant Mir vs Nog. Cause they are both black belts and they are the best HW submisioners of all time and along follows Verdum.
So Mir will want to take his chances standing up cause he is a much better stand up fighter than Nog(2008,December fight)70-30 % . He out boxed Nog on that fight and finished him with tko. He was dominating him for 2 rounds.
And i think he wants to do that again cause thats his best option.
As for Josh Koscheck i just laugh when he trash talks cause he does it for promo and money i am 100% sure! not saying he is the best guy in the world but i cant tell he overdoes it to sell fights. He is not the best trash talker though. Chael Sonnen has the belt in trash talking but he does back everything up.
~LoisLane~: You know as soon as I wrote that "Its anyones game on the ground" I knew I would hear it hahaha...Yes its true you have strikers graplers take downers finishers lols....It is good when both guys are of equal standings....That always makes for a great fight....THATS when its anyones game on the ground
I cant stand that koscheck fool. He used to be okay but all the trash talk is just lame.....I like the humble guys who know they can kick your ass but dont need to run around trying to convince everyone about it until their in the ring........
One of the best trash talk smack down, ....Tito Ortiz running his mouth about Randy Couture and him bringing a cane into the ring cuz hes old.....? Tito literally got a spanking from Randy now didnt he bahahaha.....Like actually was spanked....LOVED IT!!!
Another one of my favs is Rich Franklin......Humble as hell and a good fighter and seems like a sweet guy.....(needs to hang it up now and be a coach)...I love when he had to come in and take over for cry baby Tito in the UF series.....I didnt want to see him and Liddell fight at all but obviously there was no choice and liddell got pumbled lols.....I use to love Liddell but hes all fat and lazy now hahaha.....He was amazing and there is nothing like when those guys used to all be in ufc eh........
Azimuth_Predator: Yes now you got it right. when 2 fighters have equal standings its 50-50. On the ground though cause we were talking about the Nog vs Mir fight. Standing up they don"t have equal standings. It"s 70-30 there.
As for Josh i understand why you are pissed off but he does that purposely to sell fights.
As for Tito Ortiz... he is a very good trash talker but Chael Sonnen is the trash talking champ right now.
And the but spanking will never be forgotten from Randy. It was epic i agree.
As for the UFC i enjoy it much better these days cause there are more well rounded fighters and you have stacked cards. Not trying to take away the anything from those days but the competition now is larger. And i like that.
As for Chuck...he was bad ass back in the day and yes he did get lazy.
There are lots of fighters who managed to stay legit even after the 35 year old mark. Randy Coutoure, Wanderlei Silva, Dan Henderson, Shane Carwin, Anderson Silva and Rich franklin too. I think Rich can fight a couple more.
~LoisLane~: Bahahaha.....On a serious tho, I will be back to answer your last comment.....
I never heard of a Chuckle thats Jelly candy...wtf is it?
~LoisLane~: You know I wrote this whole thing lastnight and the comp froze FFS lets see if I can remember wtf I was saying.....
I like Dan Henderson....Anderson silva (use to want him beaten on) I disagree with Franklin has a few more fights left....I think he should be done with it while he still has his face intact Just like I think Randy shouldnt have fought Lesnar.
I used to watch the wayyy old Royce Gracie and Shamrock days.....To see where they have come with it now was just awesome....Gracie was good in his time but when they put actual rules on the sport, he totally sucked.....And of course he was older. Back then it was only a few who had lots of experience in different styles of fighting...NOW these days...You get 2 guys in the ring who Both have the same fighting style....Or at least the same stats you know.
Thats why I always liked Franklin, Hes such a good guy and when he first fought Shamrock, after when he pumbled his face, he went up to him and said Thanks for the opportunity and it was an Honor....That was pretty cool of him.. I hate all the show boating all the time...
Which brings us to Rashad evens......He has come a far way and seems like he is getting it now. As in he doesnt need to show boat all the time and act like an idiot...He has become a good fighter....
EVEN tho I totally like Rampage, it was too bad their last fight was a draw....
What about Bj Penn and little Matt sera hahaha. Another one who runs his mouth and then gets leveled LOLS.... I actually like his personallity but thats not going to win him any fights...I used to like Matt hughes but hes a serious dick head now who also should hang it up and shouldnt have fought Big Mouth Koscheck....I think Matt H could teach some things that he knows but as a coach he was a fool...
