ITS FOOTBALL, NOT SOCCER!!! (Page 3) kenangan: jom main fantasy football stadium astro worldcup.... http://safantasy.stadiumastro.com/ kedah league : Code to join this league: *******4 Selangor league : Code to join this league: *******3 Juicyfruit25: its definitely football and not soccer, i dont know why people call it that it was always football and always will be ..... Wampum6: I think that madjac has the right idea. I am an American, and even ESPN people talk about how boring soccer is. On the other hand, I am a former ref and know the game of soccer well------and I enjoy both football and soccer very much, to use both the American terms. Turbine pro: IN chinese football u must use ur feet 2 kick the ball,so I guess football it s foot -- ball Wampum6: There's plenty of room for disagreement, discussion, and even tolerance. Players from many nations play the game, and call it what is most familiar in their own language, and that is just fine! McLongCawk: football is called foot-ball for a reason. The game is played with a spherical object widely known as a ball which is then passed from one player to another usually with the foot. i suggest we rename American 'Football' as American Handegg. Inertia_Crumb: Different countries call it different names, get over it! The final of the world cup was played at soccer stadium because in south africa its called soccer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soccer_(disambiguation) mackemca: Canada and the U.S.A only places on the planet that don't call the sport football insted it's soccer bahcatha2: I wont even waste my time reading this stupid thread, but I will say in America football and soccer are two totally different games. Miki_au: no offence to anyone but to say 'the only football is aussie rules' is one of the most ridicolous statements i've heard ! only THE REST OF THE WORLD calls football FOOTBALL (including england)and people in america and australia really need to realise this and the fact that there is the rest of the world to consider lol and as already discussed, a sport in which players hold the ball with their hands and then kick it every once in a while IS NOT FOOTBALL !! and same applies to grid iron or whatever else they call it over in america. cheers xxzero: south africa also calls football soccer..the biggest stadium in south africa is called "soccer city".. also in football there is two players that hold the ball with their hands and kick the ball once in a while ..the goalkeepers.. anyway call it soccer or football..just enjoy the beautifulll game.. :] i call it "futebol".. dirty69: its crap in my mind give me hockey, a REAL sport anyday Canada is and will always be the best †Jack☠OfHearts†™: haahaha it's football! badass football ...only the countries that can actually play the game well calls it football futbol Malobear: In N.America its football. Canada and America have their own versions of how its played. "American football is played by big fragile men with a lot of equipment so they don't get hurt Sad bunch." Personally Fogofwar, I wouldnt want to get hit by any of these human "Trucks"lmao. Canadians love their football as well and have a slightly different way of playing it.So its just not a American way of playing the game. As far as the rest of the world,Soccer/football,whatever someone wants to call it,I love watching it and a hellva better game to watch than Golf or NASCAR zzzzzzzzzz †Jack☠OfHearts†™: human "Trucks" haaha I'll say, dont drop the soap! *ehem* I mean "don't drop the eggball!" haaha ...they may both end the same way ey. I think American Rugby is more a delicate sport so they add the equipment to pretty it up FogofWar: "Dantheman- ice hockey!! Bahahahahahahahaha!! Figure skating is a tougher sport than ice hockey,oh oh put some shoulder pads and a helmet on,i dont wanna get hurt,i might get bruised.." Yah, there's sooo many sports tougher than ice hockey hey Krash? I'd love to see you step on the ice with these guys without pads. "the game is played with your feet so football. american football you carry the ball and occasionally kick the ball" Occasionally? Field Goals; punts, kick offs, all are kicked. …hence they call it football. "only THE REST OF THE WORLD calls football FOOTBALL (including england)and people in america and australia really need to realise this and the fact that there is the rest of the world to consider lol" Molabear, I was mocking someone for saying American Football is played by fragile men….the hits in the National Football League are bigger than any sport. The reason they wear so much padding is so that they can be ruthlessly aggressive and not have to hold back. A game that has more than one injury in every game can hardly be called fragile. The word Soccer came from the short term for "Association Football", a bunch of schools and clubs formed in London in 1863. It standardized a game of Football in which you could not use your hands. At the same time, another school by the name of Rugby came up with their version which allowed you to carry the ball. Association Football became known as Assoc. Football; which became known as Socca football in 1849; and socker in 1891; and soccer in 1895. The word Soccer originated in England. US university teams, such as Yale and Princeton, etc. adopted the Association football rules; and also called it soccer; bringing the term to the US. Harvard, Princeton and Columbia liked the Rugby and formed the Intercollegiate Football Association from it. For short they called it Football. No matter what you call it; it really doesn't affect the games. You may call it Football; I call it Soccer….it's the same game. Anyone who says that American Football players are pansies for wearing pads; watch them play and see if you'd want to step on the field with a 250 pound man trying to crush you: †Jack☠OfHearts†™: is it me or just fogofwar did his homework for nothing?..or am I the only one who just don't give a fck? 1 2 3 hut hut †Jack☠OfHearts†™: only in USA..or some other countries with no rich football background. If you notice all the Caribbean, European, South American and UK teams are fc meaning football club not soccer club.. |
