perception1960: Yeah okay. Here's the deal people who like soccer are snobs. The fact is that most people don't play soccer here. I'll admit I don't understand the game. I'll also admit that soccer players are tremendous athletes but don't be rude and call us names. I'm from the south and o feel the sameway about hockey as I do about soccer. Did not grow up playing it and don't understand it. That does not make me stupid. I grew up on American football so I am very attracted to the sport. Things stop here on Sundays and Mondays nights when football season is on. U will never understand the fascination with American football and I will never understand the fascination with soccer. Neither of us is wrong.

patpitt65: so hereit is weather you are talking rugby or football. I will admitt I havent watched alot of rugby dut i have yet to see a 285 pound 6ft 5 inch running over 20 mph slam into a nother rugby player thus the pads Nfl players would kill each other with out them. They are to big and fast . A study by the ncaa concluted when some one gets hit in the open field its like a car wreck at 35mph with no seatbelt now do that 25 times a game I got repect for rugby players I know I cant handle it but if they were that big strong and fast they would play in the nfl for the money . and soccer come on

perception1960: Problem is there are no 6'8 400 lb rugby players anywhere. Ur rugby players are tough guys but they can't match the size of NFL players. I grant u the rugby players are in better shape because they run alot but if your argument that they hit harder than NFL lineman then I say that no rugby player could even move a 400 lb lineman even a little.

Let's call it like it is. Rugby is a tough sport but they are undersized to play NFL football. Unless it's wife reciever or maybe tight end.

I'm.not knocking soccer or rugby in the least. I was born and raised in southern USA. We played nor watched either. That's what the difference is. If you play the game when are young then u will grow up liking it. We simply didn't grow up with rugby and or soccer therefore most Americans don't understand the nuances of the games nor have interest in them.

There is always this strife between soccer, rugby and American football fans. There shouldn't be. I bet people in Africa who love soccer don't have a clue about the NFL game. Nor do they care. If your theory is correct then the NFL should be inundated by rugby players trying to play here. The money is much better but there are not many who make the transition as it is a totally different game with different skills sets and size.

perception1960: I agree with you but I don't live in Europe , South America, Australia or Cameroon. I live in the USA and I simply am telling you people that we call it soccer here. No reason to get all worked up about it. It's just a fact.

perception1960: Why do soccer fans always pull out the 75% of the world loves soccer? All I was saying is that in the USA we call what you call football " soccer " there is absolutely no denying that whether anyone likes it or not.

People are so quick to argue over incrediblly stupid shit. Who fucking cares tbh. You guys love soccer and it's a very very minor sport here in the USA and trust me, as much as you'd like to change that it's always going to be a minor sport here.

Every year for the past 25/years I've been hearing that soccer is on the rise here in the USA and it's still way behind hockey ( which btw is a distant 4th in popularity here ). So soccer snobs just chill out. There is absolutely nothing anyone can do about that fact. Fuck, people get a life. One guy in here wrote " I won't read thatomg paragraph that you just wrote ". Okay if you're not intelligent enough to grasp a patagtlraph over three sentences long then you are going to be very limited in youre life. But whatever. I'm done with this topic. I never said I hated soccer. I just have facts and stated I didn't understand it because I was not raised with it. Wtf is so hard about understanding that and not getting ass hurt about your sport. Goodbye losers.

Paul013: Association Football is the correct name of what is often caller soccer..
It is probably the oldest formalised game of all the different types of football played around the world.
There is no right or wrong or better or worse - its all meant to be sport.
