Martial arts (Page 4) guess who: yeah me too one dojo has different qualifications for advancement than others just because they test you how do you really know the test was good enough i have seen supposed black belts from one dojo get their butts kicked by lower belts from other dojos. ♫♪ B::O::O ! ! ♫♪: I don't practice any but if I were to choose it would be Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu headed by Masaaki Hatsumi. Its a blend of 9 ancient Warrior traditions that date back to feudal Japan. After talking with a friend about who was the most legendary Martial Artist I learned of Toshitsugu Takamatsu - the last true Ninja and searched the 'net looking for the most authentic, traditional fighting arts. There's naturally a lot of controversy surrounding claims made by many regarding the origins and techniques of the various arts, Bujinkan Budo is no exception but I love that it is steeped in ancient history I can easily access. JahJahMike: I do Hand-hand combat Haidong gumdo, which is mainly focused on art of using swords, but their hand-hand techniques are quiet useful. The majority of the hand-hand combat moves are all meant to severely injure the opponent however Anyways I also did Taekwondo and currently training boxing. As a Martial Art student, i have no right to judge other Martial Art's style and such, i hope you guys do also redrock21: I am a 3rd dan BB in Taekwondo and love it but have to agree that Ive seen black belts that if confronted on the street by someone with fighting experience,....they would be dominated! But,.....most adults that train do it for other reasons than being able to "kick ass". It is a GREAT stress releiver, good workout and helps immensley with self discipline, plus you never really "graduate", you could train for a lifetime and youre never done. Its also AWESOME for kids, especially those spoiled little brat kids, Ive seen 5 year olds do a complete 180 in less that 3 months,......good tool ♫♪ B::O::O ! ! ♫♪: U make a good point Azlover and they do ask that question when U go for Ur interview...'Why do U want to learn martial arts?' ozmos: Yeah, I used to do TKD but quit because it seemed impractical. Now I think it would have been good to stay until I got my black belt, it kept me really fit and it does develop powerful kicks.
