The second episode reinforced the opinion I gained from watching the first.

The show is terrible in just about every way a show can be terrible.

Bad story lines ... I can see now that they're gonna be struggling with trying to come up with ideas for stories. They can't just repeat the "dinosaurs are dangerous and can eat you" theme over and over.

I wish it didn't suck. Just in a general way, the idea of dinosaur danger, people getting eaten, etc. appeals to me. I absolutely LOVED Jurassic Park.

But, of course, that was done by Steven Spielberg, one of the finest film makers of all time. And by far, one of the best cinema STORYTELLERS of all time.

But it's HARD to make that sort of stuff work. And it was pretty obvious that it wasn't likely to work on a weekly television program.

And it didn't.

I had expectations based on ...

~~ What I saw in the way of previews

~~ A little common sense knowledge about movies and television

I expected it to suck.

It met my expectations.

Oh, I wanted to add this:

The concept really isn't all that great.

Here's the basic concept:

It's the future, and in the future, the world is all messed up. A few "lucky" ones get to go back in time to escape the messed up world. But they have to go back far enough so that they don't cause problems with the future by causing paradoxes (dumb concept), so they have to go all the way back to dino-time. Then mankind is going to inhabit the world and not make the same mistakes of messing it up this time.

But they've got to bring some cool stuff with them, like guns, autos, medicine, and other technological stuff. It's needed to survive the harsh, dangerous dino-environment. But the nature of technological stuff is that it's MANUFACTURED. They aren't able to bring entire technological infrastructures with them necessary for making that technological stuff. What happens when the fuel for the cars runs out, or the solar panels get broken, or the medicine runs out, or the ammunition runs out, etc.? So it would seem that the entire idea of taking back technology is only going to delay when the technology they have eventually runs out, breaks, etc. and whatever society is there winds up as dino-food.

The concept wasn't very well thought out, was it?

What's my fave show, where expectations were met?

I don't know.

For one thing, I don't have satellite or cable, so I'm limited only to broadcast tv for what I watch.

And I guess I just tend to see things, and if I like them, I like them. I don't really have expectations for things I think I'll like. But I OFTEN see things that look like they're suck.

Oh! Oh! There's a PBS Ken Burns series called "Prohibition," which I expected to be excellent, and which is. I expect pretty much anything by that guy to be good, and it always is.

(shrugs)
