What happened?

loveistruth: What happened to real knowledge. What happened to real wisdom? What happen to kindness?
Why does many of us talk about and fill our days and minds with unintellectual or beneficial things?
Like true science, true history, true geography, true biologics.... Real world events and catastrophes. All this insignificant things that do not benifiting our lives or the lives of others around us. Just what has become of humanity?

WingsSmith: I think that's what happened is that the conventional model of society is being challenged but at the same time that means that people have to start doing their own work of validating their sources of information. It used to be that the church and established centers of learning would tell people what to believe and the population wouldn't question it, but now that it's obvious that's no single Source can give you all of the answers people need to take their learning into their own hands and to treat it as a continuous lifelong process rather than that face you go through as a kid meaning that is required each person to be self-motivated. In a world where more and more people are looking for it meaning to there very existence finding the motivation to keep investing time and energy can be pretty demanding. For those of us who don't like the way the world is heading this is an opportunity to step up and help people find that sense of meaning which will get them to start caring enough to start feeling that it's worth investing in themselves.
