harlett: women's bodies produce more body fat...so our bodies can nourish our fetuses ..& so that our bodies have fuel too make milk for our infants.....our bellies are just a very convenient place too store it....

harlett: it's a lie that you can starve yourself to having a thinner belly.....your just starving yourself and the fat cells that deflate....best advise for those in child bearing years is.....drink tons of water... and walk....doesn't matter if you endlessly pace around your living room.. just walk..20 minutes a day every day.....and you'll keep both types of belly fat in check...

harlett: second type of belly fat is the fat the gathers around the internal organs.. so sensible eating is order... not deny-ing oneself.....

GoPackGo: I'm going to blame aging for my belly fat. And sheer laziness. I could be on a treadmill right now, but I'm sitting at my computer instead. lol
I'm still figuring out how to motivate myself enough to work out regularly and shed excess body fat, but my former motivators don't work anymore. If anyone has any good ideas, I'd love to hear 'em!

darren11haiti: As a guy I wanted to just chime in and let all of the ladies who participate in this blog that no matter your size or shape. The attempt for improvement often times is way sexier then that " perfect ab" body. And who is really to say what perfect is? Women should be softer to touch then a man that's for real. I have been with girls of all shapes all sizes and those girls who embraced themselves and were positive about their image were not always the skinny girls. As a personal trainer I tell my female clients to plank and eat a low fat low starch diet, but I so remind them that changing one meal or doing that one minute of plank a day will make a difference... Only after they embrace themselves and learn that more often then not those imperfections are what makes a person love you more. Guys and especially catty girls can be harsh and judge mental. This is merely self confidence issues bleeding through from them. I encourage all of my clients to check out the I'm no angel adds that layne Bryant ran for a while. In studies these women were found to be more beautiful then the Victoria's Secret models are by most American men. Overall just work to improve how you see yourself and others will see you differently. I am willing and able to give fitness tips for free or talk to any of you about anything really. Hope this was a helpful perspective I genuinely mean that.

JaadedIce: I totally agree with Darren. I used to be a size 18. I am now a size 11. A lot of it had to do with my diet. I exercised I was even kickboxing but I couldn't lose the stomach and thighs. I found out it was all the carbs I was eating and glutens. I stopped eating pretty much sugar and simple carbs. I LOVE to bake to and that's the worse part. I still swell up when I sneak to much carbs or sugar.. I started off with 30 sec planks and worked my weigh up. I still have the stomach but not as bad now. Mind you I have RA so hardcore work out hurt, but just sitting at my desk and doing the stretches up and down and holding in my stomach for 10 sec in and out 10x helps too. Some yoga poses are great too.. stretches and strengths the back and core. Just google Yoga poses for core muscles and planks. Good luck and God Bless. One small step at a time.. And you will really feel so much better... Mentally and physically. I'm no size 6 but I'm still curvy and happy with me.

daniellekl: In agreement with JaadedIce! In the past 8 months, I've lost 15lbs (gone from a size 10 to a size 6). How? Merely by cutting the carbs and sugar! I carried all my weight in my tummy, so I totally get the frustration. Once I cut those foods out though, the fat just melted off. I disagree with Darren, however, re: low fat diet. Fat is great! It's a myth that it's "bad" for your health and what's better is that it's unbelievably satiating, so you get full faster and therefore aren't tempted to eat above your calorie limit. Fat-free foods are generally loaded with sugar and carbs because manufacturers are forced to find a way to make the food tasty after they remove the fat. My current diet is pretty much primal (lots of meat, fat, vegetables and carbs in moderation, like yams). I'm not quite paleo, as who can give up dairy?! Also, one more tip and then I promise this long shpeel will be over ... I highly recommend weightlifting! I'm an intermediate level powerlifter and nothing works your core better than weights! Unfortunately, you can't really target specific areas through particular exercises (e.g. sit-ups alone won't help tummy fat) but exercises like the deadlift and squat will strengthen your core so that when the fat does come off, you'll look amazingly toned!

darren11haiti: I think my real point was overshadowed a little bit( I'm not complaining at all) but my real point was that every woman can find beauty in herself and that no amount of work or dieting or combination will mean anything to you, if you don't find the beauty in yourself first. Those things we all view as imperfections in our selves are often perfect to someone else. We should all strive for healthy bodies but it starts with a healthy self image. That's really all I was trying to say.

VaultWanderer: If you want to lose belly fat, start dieting and jogging. If you're not used to getting exercise your stamina will be pretty bad at the start but it will improve.

JaadedIce: You can exercise are you like but you have to target why. Different triggers for different people. Women aremostly due to hormones and some are sugar and carbs like myself others fats and fried foods. But diet is a huge thing. Think positive love yourself, and start slow. It will work!! Try stay away from fillers. Protein and I don't eat red meat. Good luck God bless.

dionowens58: Well personally I like big women. In fact......l.....love.....big women. Look the real reason why women are as big as they are.....is because their weight protects them from physical harm, men have thick skin and muscles for the same reason. The other reason is so that it will be easier to protect the womb, as well as nurture the young. Big women are natural. That's the way that the universe wanted it. Now if it is a matter of life and death, then lose all the weight that you need to lose, but in the meantime, women should appreciate the fact that they are naturally bigger than nen. And for me anyway, that's good...no...great news!!!

JaadedIce: Women were never meant to be bigger than men. Yes bigger when you were pregnant. I know I used to over weight. But don't lie to them. Its unhealthy. We are heavy because of the processes foods, preservative, steroids put in our food now. And we become inactive. Chemicals are killing our bodies. OK so you like big women great. Some people like being big but don't lie and say women protect from physical harm. Learning self defense does that.

dionowens58: Learning self-defense does help you to protect yourself. But size do too. I am not saying that a woman HAVE to be 250 lbs or up. Small women can fight and take punishment too. But what I am saying, is the more flesh you have on you, the better. When was the last time you have seen a big woman with a sound mind, and was raised to defend herself in a fight enter a fight, and get annihilated? As far as this notion that women were never meant to be bigger than men, I think that is false. Now if you can explain why 80% of a man's body is waterweight, then I will change my opinion.

JaadedIce: All people have 80% water weight in muscle tissue and organs. That's information you learn in medical school. Men were made to labor women were made for creation of life. But I'm not going to keep arguing this point. You like bigger women that's great. This forum frustration of belly fat. I been there and just giving my experience how I was frustrated and lost my weight. Its not easy but it helps your mental balance when you are frustrated. Have a fabulous day.

dionowens58: I agree with that. Men were made to labor. However we are supposed to work smart not hard. You hit the nail on the head. Women were made to create life. Therefore, it is women who are suppose to defend it. It is the position of men to assist in doing that. But it is the woman who is suppose to take the lead. It's like when you sit down and play chess. The Queen is the most powerful as well as flexible person on the board. While the King is the brains of the army. That is exactly like that in life. Women do the defending while the men do the planning, as well as assist, in the process. As far as you having belly fat goes, lose it if you must, just make sure you don't go over the top in doing it. Health is more important than anything else. So do it conservatively.

dionowens58: You don't have to be 300 lbs to be big. In fact, now you may disagree with me on this, but all a woman have to be is 150 lbs, & she will be big. She won't be overweight, but she will be big nonetheless. So if a woman is 150 lbs, I will be straight with that.
