When you hit rock bottom, what do you do? (Page 2)
Zanjan: "hate myself"
For many, they've had to loathe their state so deeply, they couldn't bear to have anything to do with it. You know you are better - you didn't make yourself, the Creator did and He made you for something unique - everyone has hidden gifts; nobody can see their own potential.
How often people are just one step away, then they give up. If they only knew how close they were! Everything is both a test and an opportunity.
If you can't see it right now, then draw on your own wisdom of experience. When you see an obstacle, you know that sometimes you have to take a couple of steps backward before you can move ahead.
You see the big rock, which blocks your sight of the road on the other side (purpose); you've tunneled under it - that didn't work. There are other options - over or around.
If the only motivation you have is to pray for help, do it; God will set a fire under your butt - it wont be what you were expecting but it will set you moving in the right direction.
Zanjan: There's an old story of a farmer who was done with his slow-bellied donkey. Since it was no longer of any use to him, he threw it down a well. The donkey wailed and cried out for a long time.
Then, a shower of dirt fell down the well; the donkey wailed even louder as it knew that the farmer was going to bury it alive. More shovels of dirt kept coming down.
In its desperation, the donkey stepped up on the pile of dirt. More shovels of dirt came and the donkey kept stepping up on the dirt. Higher and higher it went. Finally, the donkey was near the top of the well and stepped out.....free.
We don't always know what's good for us yet we'll balk at anything that is. If only we realized that whatever looks bad is going to be the thing that can better us, we'd understand that God is the best friend we''ll ever have.
OokieSpookie: This current episode of rock bottom is where I believe I have finally bottomed out. I cannot sum up in short all the lessons/wisdom learned through decades of repetitive mistakes, but the major takeaway from this one (and overall): "I get to rebuild this however I want."
Advice to be considered:
Your relationship with you is the most important relationship you will ever have. Be your own best friend. Do not give up on you. You deserve your own love and support.

rich_beatty: My rock bottom was meeting an inner arch personality that gleefully searches my immediate surroundings for a way to stop all the pain in my life permanently. I knew this personality would emerge again and I would have the mean to accommodate him. People have a arch personality that will kill ourselves when we are in hopeless torturous pain. I looked for help after that occurred and due to gods grace been sober since

MitchW632: When you hit rock bottom, turn to Jesus and His music. It always boosts my spirits if I am depressed by having things go bad for me.
ScarlettKnight: Jesus and his music? I may have missed that passage of him starting his own little rock band..
straywlf: You quit doing the things that got you where you are and start doing what lifts you up. There is a lot of smart ass replies that can make some laugh but they do absolutely nothing to help more than the 4 seconds of humor in the moment. Which is how so many got to the bottom of the human waste chain
